So what did you all think of Sam Hurd's performance?

I was quite disappointed - and surprised - that Sam Hurd did not play in an expanded WR role as well as he has played WR when coming in for spot-duty. He's been around this team, in this offensive system, far too long to qualify for the "need a game or two to shake off the rust" excuse. If he plays this next game Christmas night, he absolutely must have a strong showing at WR, or his future on this team may be in question, IMHO.

I think he is a good special team’s player and a role player as a WR. Not sure if that will be enough to stay beyond this year especially when seeing some of the younger guys on the special teams unit.

He is a solid role player but dropping 2 balls in the end zone isnt what I would call stepping up when given an opportunity.

He had his opportunities and botched it. Nice to havea backup that knows the system and plays well on special teams though, so I'd keep him.

I think he is what he is. Good STs player, which should not be overlooked, and a good 4th WR who can fill-in and be an adequate 3rd WR in a pinch. He didn't have a particularly good game yesterday at WR but he should get another shot on Christmas so let's see how he does then.

I'd always try to keep him on the team as long as his contract demands never get out of hand or if you have a young guy who completely outclasses Hurd at WR.

Great hustle for lack of athletic talent. Good role player as long as he recognizes his lack of physical skills.

Good special teams player but pretty clear why he can't rise about the #4 WR here. He dropped a couple of TD passes yesterday and that was sad to see. Yes they were difficult catches, no doubt about it, but an NFL WR has to make those.

he is a solid 4th WR and great special teams players. he is not going to make plays, he has average hands and concentration and makes too many mental mistakes. for what ever reason he is in position to make the plays but he doesn't. again invaluable special teams player.

Both of those passes where bad throws by Kitna. Neither one gave him a real opportunity to make a play with the closest one being a highlight real catch if he was able to hang on to the ball when he hit the ground after diving for it.

Kitna puts just a little bit of touch on either one or both and those are touchdown catches.

Catches that are made by NFL receivers on a weekly basis (Ok probably not a weekly basis but quite a few times during a season). They're tough ones, without a doubt, but he got his hands on them and there is that age old saying for WRs...If you can get your hands on it, you can catch it.

I agree that Hurd can't be judged too harshly for not making the TD's, but it's wrong to say he didn't have a real opportunity. Especially the second one. Yes he had to leave his feet, but the ball still went directly into his gut. A ball that hits a player in the gut has to be a real opportunity to be a catch, even if the player leaves his feet. The first one though, I can't put on Hurd. He went up as high as he could and couldn't get more than fingertips on it. Maybe he could have played it slightly better, but realistically even the better receivers in the NFL could have had the same result. Not his fault.

Hurd is what he is, a good special teams player and a solid No. 4-5 WR.

I dunno about that the jump ball is not Hurd's game at all, he's not a tall guy. The diving ball, some guys could make it some of the time but nobody is going to make it every time.

I thought he was ok, he's a really good STer and he's ok as a 3rd or 4th receiver. I think he's a good guy to keep on the team.

I want Hurd to come out Christmas night and have the game of his life at WR. I say that because I can see Jerry Jones justfying letting him go if all he brings to the table next year is special-teams ability.

Remember, Jones will be on a mission next year to prove he can make smart football decisions, which will only make him more prone to making the dumb ones (like cutting Hurd would be). So if Hurd plays well at WR, not only does it help the WR corps all around, but it also helps the GM make the right move to kep our special teams coverage-ace on the roster.
