So whats your draft resume?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My credentials:

I wanted Steven Jackson too, was drooling over the possibility of cowboys getting him.
Liked Shawn Merriman but after a week before the draft i heard he had some issues with his head coach, then i was sold on demarcus ware. I was right on barber and chris canty too.

Was luke warm on Carpenter, but I wanted Manny Lawson, was drooling over him. I did like Spencer though. Loved DRC, Chris Johnson, (in fact i wanted chris johnson over felix jones) The other running back i liked was ray rice.
i loved Felix Jones too. I think im at like a B+

Non Cowboy related I loved Rolle too, Brian Leonard, Santonio Holmes, Jarvis Moss, Micheal Huff, Patrick Willis, Marcus McNeil, Eric Weddle, Darren Sproles, Flynn QB with Green Bay now to name a few players.

I hated Pacman, told a friend of mine you want no part of him

hmmm... like everyone I have big hits and nasty misses. i'm sure i do not recall them all but here goes....

the biggest misses:

I liked jacob rogers and bobby carpenter :( (((this was the curse of bp because i generally hate the pac10 and ohio st)))

some things i got right...
i knew joey harrington could not play.

i knew reggie bush was wayyyy overvalued coming out.

i loved terrell suggs coming out.
i liked ed reed and q jammer.

in general i am pretty good at running back and loved felix jones. i have no idea on ol to be honest and qb is mostly guesses based on gut but i did REALLY like Joe Flacco when he was talked about as nothing more than a 4th round pick. i do pretty well on my defensive picks overall and feel it is much easier to select those guys.

as far as resume goes though i actually played football with over a dozen guys who ended up in the NFL at various points of lower levels of football. so i do have some idea how the talent they have translates from one level to another. as far back as 4th grade one of my best friends ended up in the nfl and then i was also really good buddies in college with a few guys who went pro and pretty much every level of football in between i knew someone that had that exceptional level of talent. not coincidentally the guys i knew all played db/lb/rb and those positions are what i tend to have a good chance to be accurate on the draftnik guess area.

yep i liked joe flacco too;

im pretty above fair on the draft, knowing about players, i have my own war room,

along with that, i get about 4 magazines on nfl draft coverage, then i subscribe to at least 2 to 3 draft pro prospects

so, after going over the draft, i generally do pretty good

i didnt like jacob rogers either nor did i like julius jones, i wanted stephen jackson, but i did hit on barber and felix, but i also wanted and was drooling over chris johnson and you all saw what he did for tennessee last year

where im weak alittle is at cornerback, and defensive linemen, i hit on some and miss on some, like i like merriman, ware and sprears,

spears hasnt played like i thought he would and on jason hatcher i thought he would be playing better by now, but i did hit on ratliff too

in '02, I wanted us to trade down and pick up Ed Reed, we ended up with S Roy Williams.

in '03, I was pretty much on board with Newman, but I also wanted Leftwich.

in '05, it was a toss up for me between Demarcus and Merriman, either one with that 1st pick would have made me happy. Wasn't in love with the Spears pick, I was a big fan of Roddy White and Marlin Jackson getting picked up with that pick.

in '06, we picked up Bobby Carpenter. I REALLY wanted Antonio Cromartie, especially once he slid, I was also a fan of Manny Lawson.

in '07, I was with picking up Spencer

in '08, we picked up Felix, I thought we would take our CB there, and I thought it would be either Aqib Talib/DRC/Jenkins. I was fine with any of the 3. With the pick we ended up using on Jenkins, I thought we would pick Felix there.

I remember thinking Steven Jackson would be a perfect Bill Parcells type back for us. I also thought there is no way he would fall to us. When he did, I was ecstatic. When we traded down, I remembered Jerry Jones was our GM. Despite my USC bias, I hated that we took Jacob Rogers. He had serious injury concerns.

I really felt we should have taken DeSean Jackson last year. Despite his size and his occasional knuckleheadedness, he's a playmaker. Had we drafted him we would have never traded for Roy and we would still have a #1 this year.

Some of my "finer" moments...

I wanted Shawne Merriman over DeMarcus Ware.

I liked Bobby Carpenter.

I wanted Rashard Mendenall over Felix Jones.

In 95 instead trading down for Sherman Williams and Eric Bjornsen, I wanted a trade up for the dope smoking Warren Sapp, quickest first step on a DT I ever saw.

In 03 I loved Ed Reed but was OK with Roy (I couldnt cover a manhole cover) Williams. I guess the Chris Simms sack sucked us all in.

i wanted A. Boldin because at the time we needed a WR and I thought the guy was a serious playmaker even though he ran a slow 40.
I wanted Stephen Jackson, didn't like the Julius Jones pick.
Definitely wanted Jason Witten in the 2nd round, was aghast when we were able to get him in the 3rd.
Wanted RB Greg Jones instead of Jacob Rogers.
Will admit that I wanted bust WR Mike Williams instead of Ware or Merriman, didn't like that Merriman gained 30 pounds after his last college game.
I really wanted Manny Lawson but was okay with Carpenter.
I wanted Marion Barber, couldn't believe we got him in the 4th. I also wanted his teammate, Maroney.
I wanted Brady Quinn instead of Spencer. I thought even if Romo is the guy, Quinn would be good and that's not a terrible situation, to have two QBs that can play. Let the best player win.
I wanted McFadden last year but was okay with Felix and Jenkins.

I wanted all the stars but didn't want any of the busts.

I hear ya.

Montana, Marino, Elway...yep, my picks

In about 10 years I will know exactly how I felt about Brady Quinn. I think I'll be right on the money once I see his entire career...
