So... why exactly DO we miss on so many OL?

What's really going on behind the scenes? Apparently, half of these guys get to camp and the coaching staff decides they can't play, right out of the gate. Gone in a year or two. Peterman, Marten, Jacobs (although he was injury prone and soft.. that one's easy enough to explain). These were second and third rounders. What's the deal?

Its called dems da breaks. You hit on some you miss on some. Rogers was Parcells being stupid and ignoring our scouts. Peterman they gave up on too soon, and he just got a nice long term deal with Detroit. Marten just couldnt play.

I still have hope for Free, and it could be he ends up not panning out until he gets a shot in a different OL scheme. We did draft Adams and Gurode in the 2nd rd too, and those guys really worked out.

Oh the 0-16 Lions?

It seems like Marten just didn't have an NFL frame. Too small, too weak. Who's call was that? Bad scouting, or Jerry making a boneheaded decision? It doesn't really strike me as a Jerry pick, though.

Peterman ended up being decent, but nothing special... which is what you get in the third round most of the time, I suppose. So yeah, I agree, we just gave up too soon. He wouldn't start over Kozier, though.

Rodgers (not Jacobs.. ha.. I knew I wasn't getting the name right)... yep. Moving on.

I'm interested in hearing more about Free. Could he be our future LT in waiting, or just another guy? You never really hear anything about him. McQuistan is obviously just another guy, but he was a 7th rounder, so I'll take that any day.

If you think That Peterman would not have been starting here after Kosier went down, you are fooling yourself.

They decided a one armed Flozell was a better option than McQrap and Free.

if he was garbage they wouldnt have signed him to a 5yr deal...they'd have let him go and replaced him

It's the 0-16 Lions..They sure know how to spot talent:rolleyes: C'mon

I would do everything polar opposite from what their doing in Detroit.

Just because they were 0-16 doesnt mean they dont have some decent players.

They have a new GM and coaching staff, obviously if they thought the guy was a scrub they'd have never signed him to that kind of deal. they have no ties to the guy. I watched them play a couple times last yr and he played pretty well.

Every team drafts players (well except the Skins, who seem to trade away their draft picks at will) that turn out to be wastes of space every year.

We are not the only team to bomb on OL.....at least we didn't bomb on 1st round OL. Look how foolish the Packers looked after we took Aikman and they took Mandarich.....he was probably the worst draft bust in NFL history...even worse than Ryan Leaf. Then there was Robert Gallery (Oakland) and Mike Williams (Buffalo)...both were horrible.

True... The law of averages would suggest that this year whatever OL we draft is going to be a stud. :)
