CHANGSHA, China – A Chinese soccer fan died at his home after going 11 nights without sleep as he watched every single Euro 2012 game from Poland and Ukraine.

Jiang Xiaoshan died from exhaustion June 19 after reportedly staying up every night to watch the Euros with his friends.

After watching Italy defeat the Republic of Ireland, the 26-year-old fan went back to his home in Changsha, took a shower and fell asleep. Xiaoshan never woke up.

I don't buy it either. The human body/mind will not allow anyone to stay awake that long. We are programmed to shut-down (sleep) when it is absolutely required to do so. Three or four days, maybe, but not that long w/o any kind of sleep at all.

This is correct. The body simply won't produce enough adrenaline for that amount of time unless something else is acting as a stimulant. There had to be other agents at work there.

you obviously do not understand the intellectual aspects of kicking the ball around for 90 minutes and only scoring 1-2 goals.

I don't mind watching the big tournaments but yeah, it can be like watching paint dry.

I went to an MLS game with CCF junior last week, for most of the game, nothing happened.

when you think of it mouth, hockey is the one of the major sports that requires you learn a specific skill before you can play, there is nothing natural about sliding on ice while using pieces of metal to cut into the ice.

anyone can run, throw catch, swing, skating is something you have to learn

If anyone can do what you say...everyone would be a football player or baseball player!

You know as well as I do, the only reason people watch hockey is to see the fights. Major sport?

you aren't suggesting that those skills don't come naturally are you?

Yes some are better at them because of practice but everyone naturally can swing something or throw, just watch a 2 year old boy and you will see that is true.

however, we aren't born with the ability to skate, that you have to learn.

I agree...but, it's not a major sport. It's more of a past-time sport...when you need to go see some action, or like soccer...if you really need something to do and waste some time, go watch that instead!

that is not true, it is considered one of the top four professional sports in North America. In the US it is more of a regional sport like the NorthEast, Minnesota etc and it is only the top sport in one country, Canada, given it is behind soccer in most European countries, but in NA, it is considered one of the top four pro sports.
