What in the hell happened in the last 7 to 8 weeks where we went from knowing with 100% certainty that Corky was gone due to the blowouts at home WITH Dim at QB, to now just assuming that Corky will be retained because we "showed fight"....beat some lousy teams.... and because all the students want the lax substitute teacher back....if this was a real media market with passionate fans, we would all be using this week to let it be known exactly what we think of the asinine goings on that are about to go down....and shoved down our throats....again. We are the laughingstock of the NFL, and the fans and local media play a HUGE part in that....for almost THREE decades now....unbelievable. The only silver lining in all this is that we aren't going anywhere with Dim at QB anyway, and if Corky is retained it will only make for more apathy and suffering by Booger and Chuckles....because with next years schedule, things are about to get REAL JUICY!!!

100% in agreement. The team can't get out of its own way.

For all the hate Big Mike is receiving it is funny. Right in the playbook for the Jones boys. Scapegoat coaches and players at every turn.

McCarthy, even with all of his flaws/warts is a very good football coach. The Dallas Cowboys issues are Jerry and Stephen Jones and how they operate their business/offseasons. The way the 2024 offseason was handled is the reason those blowouts occurred. Jerry kinda admitted that he didn't give Mike much of a roster in 2024. You know...he is 2nd guessing how the 2024 offseason played out.

Good post but hopefully no one gets sucked by Jerry Jones' 'second guessing' excuse. Outside observers were vocally questioning his lack of offseason activity in real time. Observers who Jones does pay attention to.

Jones was fully aware of what he was not doing. He gambled hoping things would pay off. Now, he desires a degree of public empathy for his latest error in judgment that his 30-year GM track record cannot condone.

Because a lot of us realize that it does not matter WHO the coach is. We are doomed with Jerry as the ultimate decision maker.

The ultimate decision maker thought this roster was good enough entering the season. Us CASUAL fans KNEW it was not (silly us). The ultimate decision maker readily admits NOW that this roster was not nearly good enough. How can you field a roster that was worse than the roster that lost to Green Bay....and think it would be good enough?

Not only was the roster not good enough this year...the roster will not be good enough NEXT year. There are too many holes on this team. How did that many holes develop? Because the ultimate decision maker got blinded by 12 - 5 three straight seasons. The benchmark should have been how did we perform against good teams. Why? Because that is who you will face in the playoffs. And you will most likely have to win 4 postseason games to win a Super Bowl. We are a long way from winning 4 straight postseason games. Heck, we have not won 2 straight postseason games in almost 30 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the journey to overcoming that drought does not begin with a new coach. It begins with something that will not change...and that is getting the Jones Boys family out of football decision making. And since that is not going to happen....whomever the new coach is.......is just lipstick on a pig!!!!!

Agreed 100%! Great post!

I mean honestly, I don’t really think Mike is the problem.

The rosters he’s been given have all been pretty fundamentally flawed.

Do I think he should give up play called duties to a new OC next year if he stays? Yes, but I think he would be a fine CEO type head coach.

If the GM actually did his job and had gone all out acquiring talent in the last few years when the team was good and just needed a few more players to get over the top, this would be a different conversation.

This of the disconnect in this:
1. QB who led the team to that GB disaster gets rewarded with a QB market resetting contract
2. HC who oversaw it, gets fired

Doesn't make much sense does it?

Not sure what you think fans could do about anything. Jerry's proven he is above any embarrassment.

I get part of this but the blowouts started with getting pantsed by Green Bay at home. It should have stopped there. You are right Jerry is the major problem but MM instills no confidence with his clock management, red zine issues and lack of guts…see 4th and 1 delay of game to punt in a meaningless game. He’s become the comfortable guy Jerry loves. See Garrett

Teams problem:
HC Mac<GM Jerry

i guess every one move on to the acceptance stage of grief

need more people to stay at anger so jerry can hear how much every one hate him

He has plenty of deficiencies. I will never argue with that. He is a flawed but very good football coach, IMO.

There is no excuse for being totally caught off guard by Green Bay at home in the playoffs. But, I believe the circus of the Cowboys the week of that game did more damage for preparation. Jerry Jones starting a fire in the local and national media when answering questions about McCarthy's contract with:"We'll see how each game goes in the playoffs." Then trying to walk it back after it is all coaches and players were asked about leading up to a playoff football game.

Then the circus of Dan Quinn interviewing for HC jobs when we all know Mike Shanahan type offenses like Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay, and LeFluer run gives his defenses fits every time they play one.

Then there were the planned post-game parties players were scheduled to attend since they all know the culture in Dallas set by the Jones boys is branding, marketing first, reality TV second, and football somewhere in the top 5.

The culture in Dallas killed them before LeFluer and his team got a chance to.

Doesn't mean the coaches and players shouldn't be held accountable. Absolutely they should be. But, it also doesn't mean that Jerry and Stephen shouldn't be accountable for the 30 years Dallas hasn't sniffed a championship game or SB.

Fans, don't lose sight of the true issue and true cancer. Unless they change their ways drastically and attempt to cure the cancer, it doesn't matter who coaches or plays for the Dallas Cowboys.

Why? Because they are too lazy to do any better, aren’t capable anyway….and are more concerned with what they will PAY the coach than who the coach is.

This team will be run into the ground soon and they fully deserve it.
