Solar energy

Yep, beat me to it.

I've heard that SolarCity is a major rip. Good for the environment but not good for your wallet.
any of the ones that lock you in to a 20 year commitment to pay them for harvesting the sun is rip, most savings you will see is year 1 with a steady decline over the 20 years plus the fact you are still connected to the grid.

I apologize if this question was answered, but I didn't notice.

Given that solar panels are black and absorb heat, how much of that heat gets directed into the house? Does it warm it some and require more AC use on a hot day?

I'm no expert, but I think there is a little air gap between them and roof. If thats the case it should be a non issue
