demarcus lawrence coming on

sean lee showing why they didn't give up on him after last year's injury: he's a heck of a football player

mcfadden being decent (i still want a new back in here and mcfadden to be the number 2, but i expected less from dmac)

brice butler stretching the field and making plays when given a chance

lucky whitehead making returns exciting again (for mostly the right reasons)

byron jones showing the game isn't too big for him (now, just let him be a free safety)

la'el collins making the line even nastier, going forward

now... on the other hand...

i'm not sure hardy is worth the money

i'm not sure moore is anything but a third-string quarterback

i'm not sure this defense, which plays hard and swarms to the ball for three quarters, can play a full game

i'm not sure we can get interceptions from defensive backs who weren't just called up from the practice squad

i'm not sure that romo will ever play a full season again

i'm not sure the coaches can design a game plan that uses our players to the best of their ability -- whether it's designing routes or calling plays that put our receivers in good match-ups, or it's calling blitzes at the right times or often enough

so... i'm in fan limbo.

Lucky looks like a fumble waiting to happen. Butler is another mistake away from Not For Long. Byron Jones dislocated knee could result in major injury if his knee dislocates in an awkward or violent motion. Is McFadden really who we want to go into next season starting.

He isnt. Arms like his shrink the field for opposing D coordinators. That is never a plus.

If somebody said you have to bet your life. I know which way I'd bet.

It might be that Moore can be the 2nd string QB to early to writw him off
Hardy I could go either way
Ro feel even less regard for
If the offense can just make more 3rd down conversations the defense will
last longer in the 4th

I agree with your bright spots, assuming you think the OL was a given. The OL is the best thing we've got going.

yes, i did, and i agree.

i know there was a split between "it's still the best line in the league!" and "i don't know why anyone ever called this the best line in the league!" but i think the qb merry-go-round and the different styles of runners from last year had sooooo much more to do with the offense's failings than the o-line.

there's still work to do, but this is the most solid unit we have.

There were some bright spots.
Whitehead been showing up more, but his fumble today was not good
Butler finally could show he can be a keeper
Collins just adds to the OL strength
McFadden should have started since day one
Bailey is still the best
Jones jad a good year with his punts
Byron Jones and Gregory in his limited time, DOaw picking it up lately

Some bleak spots
Still too many injuries, the nagging type injuries, as well as,all injuries
Devin Street, show one thing good, 2 things not so good
Defense, can't finish games, look good, breaks down in last minutes.
Hardy good plays and also not as effective as we wanted him to be, mostly our expectations were too high

Coaching, play calling, which may mostly have been effected by the injuries. That one is a tough call in a way, but they still refused to make adjustments.

You got it right. After watching Weeden and the Texans today, you have to blame our offensive coaches for his lack of
offensive game plan development. It's obvious that Weeden could throw the ball, they just didn't have a game plan for
him to be successful in. Time for most of the offensive coaches to look for new jobs.

Butler looks pretty good to me, has the potential to be a contributor next season.

McFadden as a second or third back would be fine by me.

Also this was TWill's chance to step up and be the primary WR -and he didn't come close to doing that. He is better than Butler, but I think its a lock for the team to bring in a #2 WR from FA or the draft. When that happens, I don't see the gap between TWill and Butler being that big and I would trade TWill for an extra draft pick.

Have Dez, the new pickup and Beasley as the top three, then let Butler, Whitehead and Street compete for the last two spots. I liked that Butler did today, but even if he didn't I would cut ties with TWill.

Don't mind that idea, but I just don't think we would get anything great for TWill. Maybe a 5th or 6th? As mediocre as he is, he's probably worth more to us than that.

But yeah, I would like a true deep threat that can actually take the top off a defense or a 6'0" master route runner.

On the defense I'm getting the feeling a lot of people are thinking if you only score 6 points the defense better hold them to three. Sure you'd like it to stand up for 4 quarters regardless of what happens on the offensive side, but few units do that honestly. The defense isn't great, but as a whole this seasons defense has been good once we got past about game 5-6.
