Some Cowboys notes from another site; I cant copy it, but thought you would like to know what a media reporter saw. Like earlier, when the Cowboys had defensive backs changing their usual way of backpedaling and coverage. This time the defensive backs spun around like wide receivers whom change directions quickly. Then the defensive backs raced at an assistant coach who threw a football at them. Needless to say when the defensive backs dropped sure interceptions they had to do pushups, which one player do you think had to do more than the other players? Yep, roy Williams and quincy butler must have huge arms by now. At same time the cowboys worked on a new dime package Courtney Brown from reports is looking good, whom has blazing speed as you know with at least 4.38 in the 40 to 4.34 from reports I have read, and Brown has the next to longest arms of all the defensive backs next to Watkins. Also, the Cowboys had the linebakers all of them inside and out, switch sides, so the coaching staff could see in case of injury whom could play if need be for emergencies situations or if they see something that might look different and confuse offenses.

Isaiah Stanback went up and caught a big pass from Romo over Alan Ball. Later Romo put the ball where only Hurd could get it, but he couldn?t pull it in.

If some of you guys like the big guys that go at each other, well James Marten just got an education, Marten turned to protect Tony Romo and when he did he met Chris Canty head on, Canty didn?t take any pity on Marten, Canty grabbed Marten all 6-7 310 pounds of him with one hand and flung Marten to the ground.

Folk was nailing the football with football field goals on target with a bunch of them 52 yards out that reached the goalposts easily, not only did he not miss a kick, but Folk was hitting the arm behind the crossbar. Maybe now Folk has some more leg strength to hit the ball deeper on kickoffs.

That?s it guys, joe

Glad to hear that Brown is looking pretty good; same goes for Stanbach & Folk. Sounds like Canty gave Marten an education which hopefully speeds his development. Now, if Canty had gone on to lay Romo out, I'd be calling for Canty's guts to be pulled out & he left for dead.

good stuff again cowboyjoe, I'm glad we don't have to rely solely on the DMN for info

get nasty Canty! doesn't matter that fatboy can't even catch footballs thrown right at him cause he won't be in position to intercept anything next year unless were up by atleast 20 with 5 minutes to go. I'm looking forward to seeing Brown in preseason.

Courtney Brown was one of my sleepers in last years draft and I was thrilled when we picked him up, I'm glad he's improving. I think he and Watkins probably provide good competition for each other and we'll see both player progress as a result.

Also good to hear Folk is striking the ball well...I actually had a dream about a Nick Folk kickoff the other night, it went to the 1 yard line...but then we gave up a return past the 50 :bang2:.

So Roy can't cover or catch....just wonderful. How worthless can an overpaid safety be....

some guys take a while to develop on the kickoffs - Josh Brown comes to mind

I predicted a while back that Watkins would be our defensive sleeper this year and breakout with a huge season. Maybe it is actually Brown that will break out. Hopefully his good play carries on into the regular season.

I don't know if I should be more proud of Canty or more disappointed in Marten...

Canty easily. 3-4 DE's that can pressure the QB are hard to find.

true....

who cares if RW can't catch he's a DB they aren't paid to catch the ball.

I don't know how happy you can be with Canty since Marten isn't a starter...probably a draw.

oh geesh.. have you ever really seen Roy drop a sure interception come game time? i haven't off the top of my head, but i've seen him catch a lot of great interceptions.. funny that you base his pass catching ability on one report from one drill from one practice..

How many interceptions did Roy have last year?

i wasnt picking on roy, i was just saying what has been reported last few days about roy dropping balls, or getting beat.

now at the same time i think roy is showing some improvement, needs to be given the benefit if the doubt, like roy said, its time to put up or shut up!

I was only posting what some media guys were saying guys, so dont shoot the poster or messenger

lets just see how roy does in preseason, and go from there, how about that?

just thought you guys would appreciate something ellse another media writer was saying then dallas morning news,

i had a good buddy that was going to practice, and im sure he would have given me some heads up stuff, but as you know, the practice got called off, joe

2.. which, for a SS isn't bad.. he's almost always near the top of interception stats for a SS every year (i'm sure Adam can back this up with actual stats)..

what's funny is that your question is irrelevant to this discussion.. a better question would have been: How many interceptions did Roy drop last year? i may be wrong, but i don't believe he dropped any..

I dont remember any drops from last season. But i do remember 2 vividly from the previous season. One that when through his hands and hit his head @ Washington and one that went right through his hands against Detroit @ home. I remember a drop on a deep pass in the Greenbay game, was it Hamlin? I dunno, but you want to talk about horrible hands, Watkins has to have the worst!
