David Buehler-K- Cowboys Jan. 20 - 10:47 am et

Beat writer Bill Nichols speculates that David Buehler will be the Cowboys kicker next season.

Incumbent Shaun Suisham didn't do himself any favors by missing two field goals in the season-ending loss to the Vikings. Buehler was an excellent kickoff specialist this season and the Cowboys would save a roster spot if he can handle field goal duties as well. Dallas' offense provides a good spot for fantasy kicking.

Stephen Bowen-DL- Cowboys Jan. 20 - 10:41 am et

Impending restricted free agent Stephen Bowen is a candidate for a long-term deal, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Bowen will be 26 next season and had three sacks in 2009 during limited playing time. He's shown flashes of being able to rush the passer from the end spot of Dallas' 3-4 defense. Bowen could be Marcus Spears' eventual successor.

I can't say that either of those things upset me. I hope to high hell Beuhler can kick it as straight as he can far.

David Buehler - my bet he is his accuracy won't improve to the point we feel confident enough to go with him as our FG kicker.

Stephen Bowen - I'm glad to read that. He seems to be around the ball a lot when he has had he chances.

I'll "believe" that when i see it happen.

Watching Buehler before games, he has ALONG way to go before he could be consistent in the NFL.

Huge leg, but not close on many.

What a novel idea, a kicker kicking fieldgoals. ;)

He kicked FGs at SC, I am sure he could make 1 of 3 like the last guy. The thing is that carrying the extra kicker kept Jason Williams inactive most of the year and that was a major negative. Remember the good old days when the kicker or backup QB punted?

I'm just to the point where I trust both the offense and defense more than a kicker. If it would be a long field goal, I would rather pooch punt. If it's a short field goal and a makeable 4th down play, I'd rather go fo it. If it's 4th and long and a short field goal, say a 4th and 15 from the 20, then just about any kicker should be able to make it and at that range if he misses it's not that bad.

Has there ever been a franchise so snakebit at one position as we are at kicker?

Folk provided a brief promising cesura to our kicking woes, but this is getting ridiculous.

Time to find out if Beuhler can match the hype...

I saw other kickers having a rough time. SD kicker has to be kicking himself as well. This was not a great year for the kickers as I saw more missed FG around the league by top kicker than I have seen before

EASY Tomson...I've been watching NFL football for 33 years: there are ALOT of teams that've had worse kicking problems than our cowboys. Go talk to a Bills fan or San Diego or even Minnestota when Gary Anderson muffed an easy kick against Atlanta. We've been spoiled. My God I remember Rafael Septien: mr. automatic. Plenty of other great ones over the years too, but at some point we're going to have turbulence. I suggested a few times the last few days Buehler can do it. But from what other posters are saying that have seen him kick: doesn't sound promising.....

I guess I haven't paid much attention to other teams kicking problems. I just can't remember anyone having this many issues at a position for so many years....and then there were the lack of missed AGAINST us for so long. That seems to have subsided, but a few years back, it seemed like no one could miss against us.

Just frustrating.

I think Buehler will do some off-season work on FG duty but i'm not very confident in him being the answer.I still think Folk will get another look but could well be wrong.I also think that they might bring in some off the street types to compete for the job as well.It would be nice if Buehler could do the job as it would give the team more roster flexibility though.

Remember the gap between hellestrae and JP at long snapper and the troubles that were in there as well.

Well Robinson was a pretty decent Long Snapper. We are VERY fortunate in our LS position.

Really when you look at it we have only had a couple of years where the kicker really hurt us.

I heard on Talking cowboys the other day that he said he planned on putting in tons of time in the offseason dedicated entirely to getting to be good at kicking field goals so that he can compete for, and win, that job next summer. We'll see what he does I guess but I'm not real hopeful of him actually getting it done. I've just got this feeling that Folk will comeback next summer, fully healed, and he'll show he can easily return to form.

Wouldn't it be great though if he does win the job for next year? We save a roster spot and he can kick it a mile. Plus, he's got the mentality of a linebacker.
