Quarterback Rating-- Cowboys quarterbacks have combined to go 37 of 49 in the first 2 games, for 529 yards, 4 TDs and 0 ints... that works out to a 137.2 rating...

So, we have the best run defense, the stingiest scoring defense, we're top 5 in total offense, pass offense, total defense and scoring offense... in the other categories, we're in the upper half of the league...

Note also that the two teams we've beaten have won their other preseason games...

Of course, it's early, but I have found that keeping track of stats as preseason rolls on gives us a fair take on what the team's doing well, and where they need improvement... right now, the stats sheet confirms my subjective opinion, that the Boys need to run the ball better... but other than that, there's not much to dislike so far...

wow, doing better running the football than I thought we were

but of course, MB3 and Tyson have been the biggest ground-gainers weeks 1 and 2 respectively

good stuff...

Well, they are also avg. 36 rushing attempts a game in the preseason. So, 109 yards per game on 36 carries is very unimpressive. They are only avg. 3.03 yds. per carry so far. It's only preseason, but the Cowboys were one of the worst teams in the NFL last season in terms of yards per carry. I would be concerned about the running game because I think the OL appears to be pretty weak when it comes to run blocking.

Gee, isn't that JUST what I said at the end of that post??

Yes, the lack of an effective running game has been the biggest problem so far in the exhibition season...

Seriously, I was impressed with the kickoffs, and the kickoff coverage, last night... couldn't tell much about the punt coverage team, when they only had one chance to cover punts, LOL... but that one was a pretty good effort, downing the ball at around the 8...

what do you think of Fredrickson

he punted well against Seattle kicked a 49 yard FG against NO and his kickoffs look pretty decent also

he might can do all 3 jobs punter, FG, kickoff

Great stats!! I am not overly concerned with the run production at this time. A little concerned, but not in panic mode. Untill the OL is set and the 5 starters play side by side on a regular basis, there is going to be some struggles. What I am encouraged by, is the increase in talent in the OL this year compared to last. I think we will be just fine when the season starts.

Those numbers are almost as dominant as Steve Spurrier's first preseason stats. ;)
Are you saying you miss Spurrier? That he's better than Gibbs? You're out of your mind. Don't preach that in Skins Land. You'll catch pneumonia from all the cold shoulders.

Don't get carried away, Zax... in college, Fredrickson's percentage of made field goals was rather bad... he has a strong leg, but apparently, a rather wild one...

I'm not lookin' to replace McBriar at punter, either...

Tyler's best chance of making the team will be if he can be the kickoff specialist, and right now, Suisham ain't doing half bad in that role...
