Some Draft Day Thoughts!

When you look at all the offensive linemen they already have, plus the vets they signed, I just do not get why they would waste even a late round pick on OL. I can see taking a game changer like Membou in the first, if he falls that far, but he is the only OL I can see with enough upside to take OL that early.

But at the same time, isn't that true of other positions? There's 1 TE worthy of a high pick. 1 RB, 1 CB, 1 DT, 1 DE and 1 QB. The Cowboys may have to reach a little at 12, but this is why a trade down makes the most sense.

Good post.

I think OG at 12 is fake news. But if one of the top OT's fall to 12, they may pull the trigger, depending on how the board falls.

I think Walker would probably be the only DE/ED they'd take at 12. His pass rushing ceiling sets him apart and above Williams IMO. I'm fairly confident they won't take Pearce or Stewart, at 12 anyway.

Taking any DT at 12 seems like a reach unless Graham falls. Nolen, Harmon, Grant and Williams are all late 1s or early 2's. Signing Osa and adding Thomas at 3T makes it hard to see happening. But pray T Williams falls to 44!!

Adding juice at WR would be great for the team. However, I think they can do that with any of their first 3 picks so I'm not sold they do it at 12, depending on how the board falls.

I think they would love to drop back 5-10 spots and get another high pick. But I do wonder if they will get a willing partner, without taking a very weak offer?

i have zero clue what they're going to do, and i can't really remember the last time that's been the case.

Breer saying the pick is Golden or Grey Zabel. I am never against improving the trenches and theoretically Zabel is plug and play anywhere on the OL. I do wonder if Zabel is one of their first round grades? Jerry didnt rule out OL either.

Changes daily, but my draft day ranking. Can't even say it's final with half a day to go!!!

Putting Ward first because I think he goes there, not because I think he is the best player, because if I just rank him I don't know where to put him. Everyone else according to kind of how I personally rank them not where I think they will go. Leaving off all of those other Edge guys because I just can't differentiate between them other than Walker. Every time I do this I move Jihad Campbell up more and more. He just reminds me of a guy who might be like Micah was his first year (not as fast of course) - I think you play him off the ball on early downs and either blitz him or just let him rush the passer as an edge on 3rd downs and I think he is going to be really good. For us he would be kind of in between a lighter Micah and a bigger Overshown type to me depending on where his playing weight ends up. Going into draft night I'd really be happy with any of these guys. I am also very worried that we take Golden. I just have a bad feeling about him. Yes, if we trade down into the 20's I won't be as disappointed, but not at 12 please. PLEASE!!!

Ward
Hunter
Carter
Membou
Campbell OT
Javon Walker
Campbell Ala
Jeanty
Graham
Warren
Harmon
Emmanwori
Simmons - top 10 for me for sure if medically cleared
McMillan
Johnson Mich

As of now my hope is one of the OL falls to us or if not, that we take Campbell or Harmon. The talent/need just seems to perfect to ignore with all 4 of them.

Campbell might not even be taken in the 1st rd due to a shoulder issue

Zabel would be a huge shock. I like the player quite a bit. But when's the last time we drafted someone from the FCS in the first round?

Our scouts value the program.

- If Sanders really gets past 9 it will be interesting to see how far he tumbles. Some analysts had him rated higher than Ward couple months ago.
QBs are like exciting lottery tickets for teams, but...

I stated on here that he should shut his pie hole and be polite and humble. Apparently, that didn't happen. So, now coaches and FO personnel have to consider him(or his dad) wearing them or teammates out in the press. That is not appealing.

Dart should and will go ahead of Sanders. I would not take Sanders until late 20s or 2nd round after he has had a face full of humble pie.

I WISH we would take Ez. I think he's a sure thing in the NFL. And any concerns about his size are mitigated by his long arms. Would absolutely love a trade down and getting him.

-Think James Pearce could very much be in play at 44. You know who this team operates, a 1st rd talent falls to the 2nd rd. Although, keep hearing Schott wants players who love the game.
I think Simmons is that injured player we'd take in the second round while Pearce is that character concern risk we'd take. Hopefully, someone will take them before our pick so that we can focus on RB, DT, WR, CB (depending on who we took at 12).

Simmons is ok and will go in the 1st round.

I think so, but I'm just saying that I believe our interest in him is with the 44th pick. He's coming off a torn patellar injuries so there will be questions about how ready he'll be at the start of the season. I don't think we want to take that risk with the 12th pick.

It's finally draft day!

It was reported last night that teams were worried about the shoulder. I'm not a fan of the player, but could see him slide due to this.
If he just had the surgery less than a monthish ago and is already moving like that and an independent well respected doctor is stating that he is expected to be ready for training camp, then I don't see him failing because of it assuming it is only a torn labrum of course.

Just reporting what I have heard, that teams are worried about his shoulder. Is this a long-term concern, have no idea.

I'd love for them to take a DT but I also know I hate their evaluations of them and what they look for in a DT. Seems like the safest pick for them to make would be tet, golden or an OL and of those either WR would be a better choice.
