Some draft hot takes

My position is to move on from BOTH disappointing pass rushers we have in Lawrence and Gregory and draft one or two replacements.
They are unlikely to do that though. Most likely they bring Gregory back. Just being a realist

I think Quinn could use Hill like Parsons in the secondary, play him all over the place, think he would be an impactful rookie starter.

Oh yeah. If Quinn has a plan like that for him, I think that might be one of the best marriages of the draft. He could be an absolute stud in the right system.

If Wilson can stay healthy, he is a guy that can in the box and cover slots on the strong side (he played some CB in college) Adding Hill gives you that flexibility on the other side. Gives you alot of versatility on the back end

Think we should be confident to be used right as he did with Parsons

If they are as dumb as I think they are, they will cut Coop and Tank. Then use draft capital for DE in the first, and a WR in the second, and not be any better than they were last year. Welcome to the Dallas think tank.........

Cut Jarwin due to injury, and let Shultz go. Then have to wait till at least the third round to get a TE and the ones that could actually help the team will probably be gone. So get a developmental guy and wonder why.

I don't expect them to get a dynamic LB nor DT nor dynamic TE, but expect them to keep SUXing and still farther in salary cap problems.

I mean why not. As long as the Cowboys keep selling the merchandise.........the Jones are happy, and that is all that matters.

Could go DE, but Im not so sure. You are probably going to see alot of Parsons rushing, so that second DE is probably more of a nominal starter like Crawford in 2018 when they play DE on run downs

You lost me.........are you saying we only need ONE starting DE? This assumes we lose DLaw AND Gregory

My drafthot take is this team is going to eschew the needs from last year to address the needs they've created this off-season.

DE and WR are the priorities. TE third.

We may sign a journeyman guard and/or center and pretend we're good there so we can draft the flashy positions first

+1 ...

No. Im saying with Parsons putting his hand in the ground and rushing the passer on passing downs, that second "starting DE" is a more nominal starting position akin to Tyrone Crawford starting at RDE in 2018.

Hard pass on Burks
Dont know what to really make of Burks. He did well in the SEC, but I still dont know if I see him being a legit vertical threat in the NFL. I could see him being the 2005 version of Keyshawn Johnson

I like Drake London alot more. A big body bell cow WR that will also be a vertical threat

Is London going to be healthy for his pro day?

Greens combine doesnt really effect my opinion of him. I like Penning, but Id feel better about Green as our 2022 LG. Where Penning really interests me is that he could be an NFL LT down the line

I'm not sure, but I'm fairly good on London regardless based on his tape.

Agree on Green.

A workout may have pushed him out of our range. I could see him running faster than expected. If he could clock a low 4.4, he could go top 15. Maybe even top 10

I personally don't think London leaves the top 10. He's the only guy this year who looks like an NFL ready 3-level X receiver.

- The teams interest right now seems heavily skewed on the offensive side of the ball. Id be surprised at this point if they use one of their top two picks in defense. Still early though.

- My money right would be on Penning, Green, Zion Johnson or a WR their first rounder.

- Penning may have leap frogged Green. Penning had a much better combine. Both can play OT, where Penning could project to LT and Green RT. For you Green fans, I think there is a better chance now that he is available

- Treylon Burks seems to be the WR they have showed the most interest in so far. However dont sleep in Drake London and Chris Olave at 24

- The Bama WR's are going to be interesting guys. A healthy Jameson Williams probably would have been a top 15 pick. However he came in pretty light at the combine at 179. Dont know if that's a side effect of his injury. He could be a faller and if he is there at 56 you have to consider him. Metchie may have fallen to the point that he is seriously underrated now. I think he would be a steal in the 3rd.

- Dont be surprised if we pick a HB relatively high. We are talking to guys like Isaiah Spiller, so a day 2 guy wouldnt shock me. Dont know if Id take route. However, following the money (Pollard is a FA in 2023, they can get out of Zekes deal in 2023), I can see what they are looking at. I just think its a year early.

- If they go defense day 1, I think its most likely to be Dax Hill. In an organization that loves Sparq, with a DC from the organization that developed it, I can see the appeal. I do think if Hill had better ball skills he would go much higher

- They seem to be really looking at TE's. Especially day 2 type guys. Dont know if I have seem them linked to McBride yet. There seems to be a good chance our 2023 starting TE is in Indianapolis right now

Green has pro-bowl potential at LG. Can Penning play G at all? Whether it should or not…I think that would have a big impact on the cowboys draft board looking to plug the LG hole.

Tagging Schultz and then spending a 2nd round pick on TE is crazy…even for Jerry. I think Schultz ends up getting an extension. 4th/5th round blocking TE2 is where the TE target should be.

Dax Hill is a worthy talent to target where we are drafting in the 1st

I don’t hate the idea of a talented RB in the 3rd-6th preparing for Zeke’s departure next year
