- I dont think you will see moves at HB until McFaddens hamgstring either lingers or reaggravates. Even then I don't think it will be anything spalshy and most likley be Cyrus Gray, whom we liked in the draft a couple years. Thomas Rawls could join fold later if he is cut. Brouddus thinks if they make a move it will be a trade, but I dont see it right now

- I think Hitchens locks down McClains spot at MLB until he is reinstated. To me its his best position and he is a much better MLB then SAM. If this turns out to be true, it will be interesting to see who starts at SAM. My early money is Gachkar who like Carter is very good downhill player and while he isnt nearly as athletic is a more cerebral player. Dont sleep on Damien Wilson though.

- Im very interested to see how Byron Jones and Cory White are used. Both can play CB and FS. I wouldn't be surprised is Byron Jones stays at CB and White is used in a way Seattle used to use Jordan Babineaux.

- It looks like La'el Collins is starting camp at LG, setting up the battle to watch in camp with Ronald Leary. Im Team Collins. Its nice to have this kind of depth.

- Dustin Vaughan is my player to watch in preseason. He has the physical talent and composure of a starting NFL QB and it will be interesting to see how his development from last year to this year has gone. Vaughan could possibly save us from spending a very high pick on a player that wont play for a season or two

White is flying under the radar and I hope a nice pickup. Coaches have been talking Wilson up.

I think Wilson is better suited to be a SAM then Hitchens. Like Hitchens he can wear all the LB hats, but I felt SAM was by far Hitchens weakest spot last year. Hitchens seems much more comfortable reacting then attacking

I think Jeremy Mincey is slightly crazy,he pulled the same **** with the jags and they cut him,he wont get a new deal by sitting on his couch and he is losing 30k a day.

Agreed! Broaddus sited length as to why Wilson is better suited for the SAM as compared to Hitchens. In comparing arm length, Wilson has 33 3/4" and Hitchens has 32 1/2" arms.

I probably should have included some stuff on Mincey.

I think this is the wrong time for him. Last year he may have had a chance. With a healthy Lawrence, drafting Gregory, and now being able to get Hardy in games by October along with Russell and getting Gardener back both of whom are going to get looks inside as well, he doesnt have much if any leverage. In fact his holdout could ultimately push him off the roster if younger players like Russell, and Gardener prove worthy of solid snap counts. Also Jack Crawford has been getting talked up inside as well

Not really looking at Vaughn as the replacement for romo
That would be great but that's a mighty high hurdle for the kid
I would be very pleased if he could just be a solid number 2 so we didn't have to carry a vet backup
If he can play that role that is huge
Anything more than that is just an added bonus

lightning can strike in the same place twice but that would be a true double lottery win. There are so many intangibles to the top QBs that its asking a lot for Vaughn to be even thought of in that company.

It not something I expect, but I think it is possible. I think this TV and preseason will give us a good indication of what his future could. If he improved a bit he could be a solid backup. If he made a big strides he could be someone they can groom. He has the physical tools, but his growth from season 1 to season 2 will give them a good idea of what they can expect from him

His composure in regular season games is an unknown. In practice he may be, but actual games we don't know.

According to Broaddus, Vaughn didn't get the number of reps in the minicamps that he'll likely require to groom properly. I hope the staff allows him a greater number of reps to put forth a competitive bid as Romo's backup. Perhaps the staff isn't as confident in him as they'd like us to believe. If so, they could limit his ability to compete on an even level with Weeden. I'd sure hate to see that happen. They really need to give the kid his due opportunity.

Time to make a call on Vaughn, is he a real back up QB? Is he a future starting QB ? To answer these questions he has to get snaps.

True -- and if he DOES get a new deal, it looks like it may not be with the Cowboys but rather with yet another team. Even if that happens, it's not too likely that he'd get too much more than he's getting here, although a salary bump from us would appear the appropriate thing to do.

The catch there is that he'll probably be forced to eat humble pie and report to camp for that to happen. The front office has dug in and appears intent upon making him come to them before they consider entertaining any more contract talks. He may very well end up going out the door and looking for another job. It isn't like we lack the talent to replace him if push comes to shove. At his age, and in his position, he should probably eat that humble pie.
