Thanks for that outstanding work.

Witten went to 6 Pro Bowls before he turned 28. Only Barry Sanders and Jim Brown went to 7 Pro Bowls before that age.

Awesome thread! Unfortunately it has too much to do about football and not enough of hating on <fill in the blank with a player> or this <fill in the blank with player> sucks to warrant the attention of forum.

Thanks for your work.

I don't think Witten will catch Gonzalez in terms of stats but he will be a close second when all is said and done. I also believe that Witten is a much better blocker and overall a better TE than Gonzalez.

Assuming he continues on track is he a first ballot HoFer? I think so but you never know when it comes to Cowboys players.

IF he can play this way for another 4-5 years then he SHOULD be a first ballot guy.

At this time we are fortunate that we will have 2 future hall of famers in Ware and Witten. Does not happen all that often. And while I doubt he will play long enough to get the stats and will not get in unless he gets several rings Romo might one day.

Great teams usually have lots of future HOF people on them. The 71 team had Staubach, Hayes, Wright, Renfro, Lilly, Ditka, Adderly. Should have Howley as well. And they had people who did not make it like Cornell Green, Cliff Harris, Charlie Waters, Lance Rentzel and Duane Thomas who could have been. Add in really fine players like Niland and Calvin Hill and Walt Garrison and Lee Roy Jordan and Jethru Pugh and others I can not remember at the moment. Always thought it was the best Cowboy team of all time in pure overall talent. Forrest Gregg was a Backup.

The 18-game seasons would help with the stats, but even if he doesn't catch Gonzalez statistically, he won't have to. He'll get into the HOF based on all the Pro Bowls, which is really more of a testament to his greatness than the raw numbers in a receiver-friendly era.

Edit: Just figured out you were talking about Romo. I think.

yeah Romo. Now if we go nuts and win 3 SBs with him as QB he is in as long as his season stats hold up for those years. A couple of SB MVP's would do it as well.
