Some info on the punter coming in

What is with the McGee hate? The fact he isnt Romo?

IMO, McGee would be the best 3rd QB in the league... I don't want him taking on any bigger role, but in that limited role, you can't do much better...

Does anyone know if the punter they are bringing in can kickoff?

Nevermind. I just found it. He kicked off once (it went 63 yards). He also was 0-2 passing and attempted to run one PAT in and did not make it.

IMO, Coale will be the emergency punter, but won't be given a shot at the starting job... it would be dangerous and silly at the same time to do so, what happens if he rolls an ankle running a pass pattern?? Danny White is the exception that proves the rule...

Yes, I really don't see a bigger role for him as a punter UNLESS Jones doesn't come through, Coale looks really good at it in practice and Coale is buried on the depth chart at receiver.

I could see two out of those three things happening.

isn't idaho in higher altitudes? I only ask, because if it is, then those booming numbers would be less down here in Texas where it is flat and the air is heavy.

Pat McInally, he of the perfect Wonderlic score, was a WR and Punter for the Bengals.

And the Bengals always make sound personnel decisions... :D

For accuracy, let it be noted that he only played WR his first six seasons, the last four he was strictly their punter... and while splitting duty at the two positions, he had two seasons where he missed two games... this probably left the Bengals scrambling to find a credible punter for those games...

Nope, Stanley, I just think that using a position player as your punter is a bad idea... even if Danny White did it, and did it quite well... of that player sprains an ankle running a route, suddenly you have to fill two holes on your roster...

Again, though, I'm not opposed to looking at Coale as an emergency punter, somebody you could bring in to finish the game if your starter got hurt...

Concussions knocked him out of the WR mix and the ironic thing is that he suffered his worst as a punter.

Punting has become much more of a speciality than even ten years ago, so I agree that a player shouldn't do both, just pointing out that White wasn't the sole exception.
