Some interesting comments from Dane on the scout podcast

I listened to the plug and play podcast this morning with Dane, Broaddus and Jeff. Dane who is one of the better media scouts, made a few interesting comments:

-There are 9 top receivers in this draft class, he believes there is a chance 1 or multiple make it to pick 56. Here is his 9, in no particular order: Williams, London, Wilson, Olave, Burks, Dotson, Pickens, Watson, Moore.

-David Bell ran poorly at his pro day, but he is a good late day 2 prospect. He said, you don't draft him for his speed. He is another one that could be a good pick in that late 3rd rd range.

-Has Zion Johnson over Kenyon Green and believes Ed Ingram could be more of a day 3 pick. Thinks Penning is a top 15 pick, even could go top 10.

-Believes Tyler Smith will be a top 40 pick, but scares the hell out of him, believes he should be taken later.

-Cowboys should consider, Penn State's Ebiketie at 24, says he is very twitched up. Doesn't like Mafe as a 1st rd pick, but believes he gets selected there.

-Has a 3rd rd grade on Sam Williams and said there are serious character issues that teams need to investigate. My thinking is, he has a chance to slip to the team's 3rd rd selection. If this is the case, perhaps, they could take 1 of those 9 receivers and still land Williams.

We know Quinn was working him out, just like Sam Williams. Majority of the boards have him more closer to our pick at 56, not at 24.

So which one the WRs is ""Cee Dee Lamb" enough for Jerry to pass on O Linrman at 24? I think good chance Williams is there.

Depending on the board I’d consider him at 24. He’ll be gone before 56.

Not sure he is going to be highest rated on their board, but if they like him, probably have to take him here or consider trade up and back options. Not sure how high interest from the Cowboys. Everything points to taking OL or WR in rd 1. Want OL, don't want WR.

how are you guys looking at this - is lamb moved to X permanently - are we playing lamb like Devante Adams all over the field? I think this question has a huge impact in terms of which one of these 9 receivers we are looking at

I prefer Green and won't rule out Linderbaum, Rainmann, but this seems accurate. Could land one of those 9 receivers at 56.

I think Sam Williams is going to end up going early, a lot earlier than the 3rd round. It's a loaded class, but his measurables and his production stack up with anyone in the second tier of DEs.

Think this is also how they will go but I wouldn’t be surprised if London or Wilson drops to 24 they might take a WR in the 1st.

Yup…didn’t know much about this until the podcast but factor in his struggles in the run game and that’s why he’s not a top 50 prospect.

MM and Quinn were at Penn States pro day. Is Ebkitie considered another Parsons by the coaches. This will be a fun draft. How high would Williams go if he did not have that history.

I’d consider Ebiketie at 24…Williams? hard pass for a LBr with no instincts.
