Some keys to the NO game

1. Romo needs a big day. We will need to put up a lot of points to stay in this game. NO is scoring about the same points as we do on average but they have scored 127 in 4 games in the dome. They are giving up 19 points per game which is 5th in the league.

2. We are going to need to create some turnovers while not giving them up. NO is 7th in the league at +6. We are 2nd at +10 with 21 takeaways 12 by INT. Romo has thrown 6 INTs and we have lost 5 fumbles. Getting turnovers will not be easy as they have only lost two fumbles and thrown 7 INTs.

3. I would say run the ball to keep it out of Brees's hands but I don't think they can do that and I'm not certain they should. They have given up 4.9 Y/A and almost 1000 yards. They have given up 7 rushing TDs and 46 first downs by rush. They are only allowing a Sc 28% which is a good bit better than our 34%. Garrett will try to run the ball and they may have some success against this team. That will be an interesting game within the game. Our rushing defense is about the same BTW.

4. They will pass the mess out of the ball because they have to. They may run enough to get decent 2nd and 3rds and to convert short yardage but if we get the same ole pass defense they will need to score 40-50% of our possessions. If they get a good TO diff, decent pressure, better pass defense, and a good lead then maybe they can try to control the TOP. We can expect some blitz then some more whether we run or pass. It'll just be more on long passing downs. Ryan is going to ask his guys to embarrass Garrett.

I'll leave it there and invite others to elaborate, add and critique. I'd like to see some key match ups. :)

Go in with the same mindset as the Denver game and hope for the best. Play man, don't give up the big plays and for Ware to keep constant pressure up front.

Keys are the same for every game.

1. Good QB Play
2. Defensive Turnovers
3. Run the Ball
4. Play good defense / Block

Am I missing something?

We need to control the clock (running game would be nice)

We need no turnovers on offense

Allow no big plays on defense

win special teams

1. Keep pre-snap penalties out of the picture on offense. Don't kill our own drives.
2. Special teams will win this game. Field position, field position, field position.

We don't have a shot unless we can get some pressure on brees up the middle. Hatcher is going to be key in this game. If you can get pressure on brees up the middle, he is not the same QB.

If he has time to throw, you can go ahead and chalk up another 400+ yard passing game against our defense.

Talkin cowboys said the nickel package had Selvie, Wynn, Brown, and Ware for the defensive line. Kiffin and Henderson were both off on the side giving specialized attention to Webb.

I agree about controlling the clock. We don't want to let brees get into a rhythm like we did Peyton. We need long drives that result in TD's, not field goals. We have the ability to do this all day long if we don't beat ourselves. Last week would have been a lot different without the offensive penalties and the drive killing drops.

We did not see those self-inflicted mistakes against the broncos, which is a major reason as to why we were so successful.

If we play a clean game, we can take this one from the saints. If we play sloppy, we don't have a shot.

Payton does NOT leave a RB in to block, so some good blitz packages (CARTER) could be very fruitful.

ALSO, the Jets front 4 DOMINATED the Saints OL in the second half of the last game, so our DL has a great opportunity here to control the game with an excellent pass rush.

The gameplan of teams against our offense is always blitz heavy, and that will be the case again (and then some) vs Ryan. Beasley should have an opportunity to have a big day. Murray will be key in blitz pick-ups and keeping the defense honest with a good running game.

So Hatcher is not starting or is out huh?

Maybe pull a "Tonya Harding" on Jimmy Grahams' knee caps Saturday night.

You didn't hear that here.

I was going to do some key match ups but left if for others. He is a key matchup in this game IMO.

Key matchups will be Graham and Sproles. Is Wilcox still out? Him and Church need to lay the wood to Graham.

Graham is going to get his, no matter who you put on him- you just want to minimize the damage.

I like Claiborne on him, actually- but it looks like Webb is going to have step up to the challenge at least a few times if not more. We're going to have to cross our fingers.

Everyone is right- pressure up the middle is key and if Hatcher is out or not playing at the top of his game- this could be ugly for the Cowboy's back end.

I have an odd itch in my ear that tells me Romo and the offense is going to abuse Rob Ryan Sunday night. Nothing I can back up, just an itch.

I have some irrational (and some rational) high hopes for this game and I think the defense makes a few plays more than they normally do and the offense screws up a few less plays than they normally do and they are going to take this contest.

So much so I committed two bills through my trusted bookie with a decent payoff I will be looking forward to.

And here I've been saying I won't put money on them... Maybe I should get help... The Native Americans around here have hotlines- I could play to their sympathies for some free counseling.

I think the Rushmen will get it done. The Saints might try and run, but that is not going to work. And that is going to give opportunity's for that hungry no name 4 on defense to GATA.

Pressure on the QB is going to cause him to make a mistake, another turn over. The Cowboy defense will get some turnovers.

Hopefully we learned our lesson from Calvin Johnson. Don't play man to man with the physical freaks of the NFL, and Jimmy Graham is a freak of the NFL. Play double coverage on Jimmy Graham and make sure to contain Darren Sproles. Force them to beat us else where, just don't let it be Graham or Sproles. We also need to always have a safety over the top on Kenny Stills, the guy is a speed demon and runs a 4.32 40 time.
