To me it seems like the OL is set and that is good. I was worried they would spend another high pick on a G. Too many other team needs and you don't need a 1st rounder at every position. WR is still a mystery as this is now a big group with skills that do not compliment one another. Too many big possession guys and slot types. No burners. I think if they go WR early it could mean the end of the Dez era. It is not Dez and a bunch of guys any more. There are some solid vets in this group that may not mix with his drama. I still think they need to get speed. Pretty sure Williams, Dez, and CB are not all going to be on the team next season. They got a FB - I guess. They got a LB - likely not going to make the team. So where does that leave the draft?

I think DT, LB, S and speed WR remain the primary needs. I think Vea or one of the LBs are taken in round 1. If not Vea, Settle in Round 2. Round 3 is best available S or WR? I think round 4 is key this year as the LB and WR group is deep. I hope they double down those positions there. Rounds 5-7 I hope are spent on athletes. Bring in dynamic offensive guys here. 2 wishes for me - stouter up the middle and faster on offense.

Thompson has some speed. But is he that guy to open up the offense. We can only wait and see. But I understand what you are saying. I doubt they address that younger speed guy early in the draft. I can see them waiting until next year if they move on from Dez at that time. Which seems very likely.

Agree with the Ol, unless someone drops to us that is far above any other player on the draft board, and they do not trade out. I think they wait for OL later as they will WR

LB and DT are the big needs here, then S.
I think Richard can work with our young secondary to improve the players there, but if a S falls to us, it is a no brainer to still select him.

cowboys strategy over the past few years has been to go into the draft without having to reach or fill many needs. we have filled WR, OL, and seemingly the DT1 position. Thomas fills need at LB depth. We would never be able to address all the needs. So right now the starting LB group needs to be addressed. with Byron Jones potential move to CB, I think they are just OK with starting safties, but looking to upgrade. I think we may still sign someone in FA.

So right now I won't hold my breath for the us to take a DT or WR in the first round, unless Ridley or Vea falls to us. then we have to think hard. That also means DJ Moore (my pet cat) is probably not a possibility outside of him dropping for some reason and us trading up to get him (which would be awesome). To me it looks like LB or long shot a Saftey in the first round. But right now looks like LB. then probably a Guard/Saftey/WR/DT in the second round, depending on who is best available.

we will defintley draft another guard or swing tackle type of player in the 4th or 5th round. target one of the speedy WRs in the 3rd/4th round.

probably draft a couple of LBs in the 4th/5th/6th round.

I think Joe Thomas is a solid pick up and he will be on the team at the start of the season. We are weak at the LBer position and this guy is solid, not great but solid. He's pretty good on ST's as well. I think LBer is our 1st pick.

Great move for OL. Fleming at RT opens the move for Collins back to LG.

Our biggest weakness is at Safety after moving Jones to CB. We also have needs at LB which these positions will most likely be priority in draft.

Line is set. FO killed it with Flemming, Martin, and resigning Looney. If Ridley is there, that will be the pick and Dez will be gone.

I would love Vea. He probably goes to an overzealous team picking much higher than us. Hurst is back on the map too. He’s my next pick for DT if Vita is gone.

Do we get a wild hair and move up for S Derwin James? That’s probably a pipe dream. I can see a Courtland Sutton at 19 or a Ridley if we stand pat.

We probably will do some moving around in the first round this year. Be ready!

It means that Jerry got tired of reading all the "on the ledge" posts from the last few weeks and thought he'd better sign a couple of guys so we'd be distracted from that fact that nothing is going to change because the Jones boys are still running the show...

Looks like they are making some solid backup moves and it's going to be in Garrett's lap to start coaching.
