24. Kenyon Green, OG, Texas A&M (6-4, 325)
After starting at right guard as a freshman and left guard as a sophomore, Green was the only returning starter on the Aggies’ offensive line as a junior and was asked to fill in across the line, becoming the only NCAA player with 80-plus snaps at four different offensive line positions in 2021. He must fix the bad habits and penalties at the next level, but Green does a great job staying balanced before and after contact with the mobility and brawling mentality to win his matchups.

26. Zion Johnson, OG, Boston College (6-3, 314)
Johnson has a stout, developed body type with the patience and placement to plant and re-leverage himself to stay centered as a pass blocker. In the run game, he shows off his body control and drive strength to execute from various angles. Overall, Johnson will occasionally lose his balance, but his combination of play strength, muscle twitch, and reaction skills help him sustain consistently. He has the talent to carve out a decade-long career as an interior NFL blocker.

Which would you rather have.......elite player at ONE position or solid player at several positions? My point, it's hard, if not next to impossible to master more than one NFL position, keyword, master. My guess the bad habits and penalties are from trying to play four/more positon at high level.

Green and then Johnson.

Kenyon Green
Overview
Guard prospect with NFL-ready frame who plays with an impressive level of consistency as a run blocker. Green moves defenders from Point A to Boint B against their will, using hand technique and road-grading leg drive. He possesses adequate foot quickness to operate in a variety of run schemes, but needs to eliminate his tendency to grab when his opponent is slipping away from the block. He has pop and anchor in pass protection, but lacks recognition and mirror technique needed to be at his best against athletic interior rushers. While green has some areas to improve, his run blocking can be dominant, which gives him a chance to become a good starter very quickly.

Zion Johnson
Overview
The phrase "phone booth guard" was made for Johnson thanks to his wide, girthy frame and immense playing power. Johnson has experience at tackle, but he's clearly an interior blocker on the next level. He has knock-back pop at the point of attack with the ability to win the block in a test of strength. In space, his limitations become obvious. He'll need to fit into the right scheme that takes advantage of what he does well and diminishes the athletic limitations. He has a ceiling of starting guard in the NFL, but his ability to deal with the athleticism of NFL defensive linemen on all three downs is a concern both as a run blocker and in pass protection.

I starting to reassess my thinking of G with 24, especially if a Dean or top DE is there. Just think if everythings equal, ( DE, LBer and G all same grade) I'd rather go defense and I can still find a starting G in 2nd.......

49. Jamaree Salyer, OG, Georgia (6-3, 320)
A college left tackle who is ideally suited inside at guard, Salyer is very efficient in his set-up and plays with outstanding body control, balance and core strength to stay centered through contact. Although he tends to get narrow with his steps and has some bad habits, he understands depth, angles, and how to effectively respond with his hands. He projects as a plug-and-play NFL guard while offering position versatility in a pinch

That is an interesting question, think I would rather have an elite lineman at 1 position, where I would like my backup lineman to be more versatile.

The need is kind of like the corner position last yr. Don't have to force the need in rd 1, but probably have to the following rd as their will be a big drop-off, especially players who can come in and start right away. I wouldn't be surprised if they target a Tackle and kick him inside like they did with both Martin/Collins when they were drafted. A player like Kinnard would be great inside as opposed to playing Tackle. I agree, don't have to force a OL pick at 24, but they cannot leave day 2 without one. Would love to sign a fa center and allow the draft to come to them.

I’ll take Green at 24

I am leaning this way as well however, if Johnson, the DE from FSU was there, I'd take him and then hope to come back with Zion Johnson in the 2nd if he's there.

Think Zack Martin, All-Pro G but I'm sure he can probably play every OLine position well enough to start. But here where you ask about matchups....Zack Martin could have different results against Eagles's Cox at his All-Pro G position vs starting center. Which is why you rarely see an NFL ALL-Pro at two positions.

I'm fine with this
I think anything along either OL or DL should be our targets in rds 1-2 and the good news is there will be value available

Johnson won't make it to 24.....he's moving up ( fast ).

From Brugler's last update....
15. Jermaine Johnson, edge, Florida State (6-4, 259)
Johnson went to Mobile as the top defensive player on the roster and left the same way, dominating throughout the week. The Georgia transfer bet on himself and became the alpha of the Seminoles’ defensive line in 2021, leading the ACC in tackles for loss (18.0) and sacks (12.0). Johnson has the length, agility and active hands that lead to disruption as both a pass rusher and run defender and projects as an every-down NFL starter.

Like I said before, if we went OL and DL for our first four picks, I'd be happier than a pig in a mud pit.

You watch these playoff games, you see how important having talent along the DL is and how tough it can be when you have issues at OL (Burrow and the Bengals).

Yeah, I assumed so.

I fear he's going to end up in Philly and be a pain in our butts for years.

You exactly right .......you can probably pass on G at 24 but you almo0st have to pull the trigger in the 2nd, UNLESS, you can sign mid-tier free agent ( not a bad ideal at all)

Naming Hurts their 2022 starter could be the worst outcome for us........now they are likely to draft 3 damn good players

I feel you can find a starter quality IOL in round 2, moreover, than you can find a DE. When picking between 2 players give me the SEC guy, so Green over Johnson. Johnson can play center and thats what's appealing about him for Dallas.

Look out for OT Penning too.

How would you grade our ability to find OL outside of 1 the last 10-15 years in the draft?

That would be the best way to address the need, but will they have the funds to go that route? Just so many needs and so many in house fa's to address.
