Some observations about the 1st Eagles game

I was reviewing the 1st game against the Eagles and thought I would just post my thoughts if anybody is interested. I'm not really trying to make a point, just posting my observations.

The defense got blamed by many fans/media, but it was really all about the Cowboys offense failing and that was because Romo just couldn't function on 3-1/2 days rest.

The Cowboys defense did enough that they could have won if the offense did what it did in the 2nd Eagles game.

Yes, the defense gave up two quick TDs to start the game, but then held them primarily to Field Goals and Punts. They held them to Field Goals after the Cowboys offense fumbled and had an INT and forced a punt after the Cowboys failed to convert on 4th down.

The bottom line is that the defense gave them a chance to win if the Cowboys offense could have responded to a few of the Eagles Field Goals and Punts with TDs.

You're setting the bar awfully low if you feel that the defense gave us a chance by allowing 256 rushing yards and 33 points. Philly scored on 7 of their 11 possessions (not including the 12th drive where they just ran out the clock.)

The offense didn't do us any favors, but that was easily the worst defensive performance of the season.

Eagles had like 29th rated pass defense at the time of that game, it for whatever reason it did get exploited that game. It has reared its ugly head since.
