1) Garrett is still pass happy with or without Romo. Probably will never change. They did move the ball passing but i would have liked to see a run play on those two 3rd and 2 downs that we passed and did not convert and wanted a run on the 4th and 1 attempt.

2) The offense as a whole looks more steady and calm without Romo. As long as Romo has been the QB here the offense has put up numbers but it has rarely, if ever, looked smooth and orderly. With Romo in there it looks herky-jerky too often. I am not talking about interceptions or running a play that the defense is able to shutdown. Im just talking about having 11 guys line up and play football like they are all synchronized and on the same page. I dont think there was a single game this year where a Romo led offense looked like that. I have been wondering why the cowboys offense has this dysfunctional look and feel about them that no other team has week after week and year after year and i just think that is what you get with Romo - its part of the package. He brings some other talents to the game but he does not seem to bring a calming or steadying influence to the game. The offense as a whole looks very tense when he is in and it looks like there is more confusion among the players. This causes difficult situations that Romo can sometimes make up for with a big play but Id rather see things run more like they did yestaerday.

3) Ware played the run well last night and recovered the fumble that gave us a chance to take the lead. Pass rushing skills may be declining but still think he should stay as a situational player. The defense stepped up and that was encouraging.

Re #2: I know it's anecdotal, but I felt the same way watching this game. The offense seemed more even keel and less bipolar.

1) I agree that JG is entirely to pass happy. It boggles my mind. He flat out refuses to run the football as the game progresses. All the people blaming Romo for the lack of run calls should now understand it is the play calling, not the QB.

2) The offense moved the ball well, but costly turnovers and bad red zone offense killed its efficiency.

3) Defense played hard, but the redzone defense was bad. More FGs, less TDs.

4) Nice pass rush by the defense as the game went on.

5) OL played well and kept Orton clean the entire game.

6) Bailey is money in the bank.

7) Miles Austin is overpaid garbage.

It also looked anemic and like 22 is the most they could ever score with Orton at the helm.

It wasn't intended as a Romo bash. Of course, the observation is limited by the fact that it is only based on a single game, but Orton did strike me as a bit "calmer" back there, which is not the same as saying that he puts the team in a better position to win.

I just am not ready to proclaim that this Def played all that well last night. I thought they played better than in the past, but I still saw a lot of open receivers running around wide open. I think the Eagles and Chippy had alot more to do with the defense playing well than the defense actually improving over past performances.

That is a good way to state it

In #2, why did you leave out that the offense looked like it couldn't put up points?

have said it for a long time
romo is a very good and talented QB who needs a real HC/OC to reach his potential to be a championship QB

unfortunately, we will get opie 2.0 next year

wow no matter what some people have to try and make Romo the bad guy even when he does not play

It really is amazing. The bottom line is, if a healthy Romo is out there, the Eagles likely get blown out. Romo would have been good for probably 2 more TDs (either by him or setting up a run TD) and likely no turnovers.

I dunno. Romo can do what Orton can do, but Orton can't do what Romo can.

There's a very distinct ceiling there with Orton. He'll make the plays within the system, but he's not going to extend the play and improvise like Romo because he can't. And A LOT of our big plays come from that.

On another note, our offensive system sucks. The end.

Also, Chris and Al had mentioned that Dez was single covered for much of the night. He really didnt sem to be getting open much so that suprised me.

Agreed! No secret, I'm a Romo fan. Was the offense smoother last night? Seemed that way, with play after play being run without bordering on delay of game (unless you want to count that bone head call by the refs with the play clock, and even then Orton was ready to run the play with a 25 second clock). Perhaps one reason it seemed to flow more smoothly was a case of the offensive game plan being simplified for Orton (Re:the number of check downs?).

Re #2: I know it's anecdotal, but I felt the same way watching this game. The offense seemed more even keel and less bipolar.
And still just as irrationally pass happy.

You could never tell that Orton was a reserve who needed support of the running game.

I think Orton just doesn't see the opportunities in the defense as Romo, or was asked to do less as part of the game plan. I thought he was a little quick to check down as well. Clearly made sure to get the ball out very fast and not take a sack. Maybe Romo takes more initiative to modify the play pre-snap as well as extend plays.

I did like the cheap yards he picked up from varying his cadence. I can't remember Romo ever drawing an offsides on anyone but Doug Free.

see # 1. Drives stalled on 3rd and short and 4th and short - would have liked to see some runs there
