One of the things I have actually enjoyed about Twitter (I can't believe I said that) have been when the players say stuff that gives you little insights into their mindsets.

From DeMarcus Ware...

"Feed the soul not the body. PRAY!!!! Start from the inside out."

From DeMarco Murray...

"Nothing wrong with looking up to someone when so many look up to you."

Doesn't sound like philosophy to me. Sounds like faith. It's all good...

I actually joined twitter a few days ago, after reading one of your comments saying it's a goos way to get news fast. I don't tweet but you were right it's a good way to stay up to date with all my sports teams and other news.

Good things to live by.

I'm sorry, to me faith is a type of philosophy.

Hey, we all have our views:

"Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we cannot see."

Philosophy is the study of wisdom or fundamental problems such as I guess one persons philosophy is another persons faith, uh?

Again, it's all good...

Oophs - accidently hit the enter key before ready...

To finish the thought...

Philosophy is the study of wisdom or fundamental problems such as existence, knowledge, mind, values, etc.

Philosophy would be giving reasons to for having your faith, or making a deductive or inductive reasoning about why you do or do not have a certain faith.

Either way, not really relevant. I get what you're saying.

I don't know the ins 'n' outs of what constitutes "philosophy" or where to say thoughts expressed clearly suggest "faith." I mean, sometimes I think I can tell, but I'm willing to say, IDK for sure.

The word I'd be inclined to attach is, "introspective," and, like I said, I'm willing to admit I may not know about where some of our 'boys are coming from. We do have some thoughtful players — that much appears to be true enough — wherever their motivational driving force is coming from.

Some people classify certain philosophies as "religious" and ban them. Other philosophies are no problem, and can be promoted to no end. Those who get to classify what is and what isn't "religious" steer discussion away from what is really important.

Or how about another great Cowboy philosopher Emmit Smith who said of Randy Moss "You cannot change the stripes of a leopard."

Truer words were never spoken.

Good lord, is this what CZ has fallen to? arguments about whether faith is philosophy?

Two guys for me to look up to and admire. Several Cowboys players have this mindset and I love them for it. Witten and Miles are similar to these 2 players as well.

In a historical context, the vast majority of philosophical writings deal exclusively with faith, specifically religious faith.

As the great linguist Ludwig Wittgenstien (not religious) once opined, "at the core of all well founded belief lies belief that is unfounded."

I thought a leopard had ........

nvm. Emmit didn't attend Harvard.

To take this from a different angle. I think its important to know that football is a game of inches. This era moreso than every other. When things are so close and it is difficult to discern things, belief in the guys around you despite misgivings or doubt can be crucial.

Obviously, this has a religious angle but rather than try and force an objective analysis just try and think of the situations these guys have to play in. All faith is is believing in something without proof. I can see how that can help a football team.

When you are getting your butt kicked and everything is pointing to you not being able to win: faith is a good thing.

Faith is signing Livings and Bernadeau and believing you've fixed the OL.
