Some Old School Stuff I Forgot I Had

When Jerry first came to town, he had no friends...

My dad did the invocation for a prayer breakfast and Jerry talked to him for a while afterward. He asked my dad to be Chaplain for the Cowboys, but he turned it down... Dad... really?

For those too young to remember, the original Voice of the Cowboys belonged to the dulcet tones of Murphy Martin. He was the anchor for WABC where his Sports Guy was Howard Cosell.

He was a Lufkinite and he sent us tickets every year to the Thanksgiving Game. I saw a lot of classic games over the years. Every year my dad sent him a check for the tickets, and every year Murphy returned the check.
