Some people want to bring back the 500 dollar bill

It would make paying huge sums in cash a lot easier. There are actually trucking companies that buy 18-wheelers in cash.

Maybe they'll bring back the thousand dollar bill. Personally, I've always thought they should come out with a 729.13 bill.
the excuse they used to get rid of anything over $100 was that it made it easier for the crime lords, drug lords, etc. Which of course has been proven to be a total pile of horse crap.

They got rid of the 500euro (c.$600) note in Europe for the same reasons.

Do they think crooks don't know how to money launder? Criminals just set up shell companies and then clean their dirty money via "clean" transactions.

I would've thought they would do this with higher bills just for the practical physical bank space needed. Flash to that scene in Heat where they're carrying around 100pd bags of $100 bills.

But also maybe it's easier to steal when in smaller denominations?

Yeah, just use the dirty money to buy casino chips and cash out at a later point. There are much more sophisticated ways with the off shores and business fronts of course. But I know shady people have been doing that stop and go for ages.

Cash is pretty much dead. I rarely carry more than $60 on me. With the overwhelming percentage of transactions done electronically, it takes a bit of planning today to make a large purchase with cash. I have had to call ahead to my bank so they would have the the cash available for me to withdraw for purchases that didn't exceed $10K. Bank check is the next best thing I guess.

With no cash, you can be totally controlled with the push of a button that freezes your accounts. I would not welcome such a world. That's Revelation stuff right there. There's nothing like the feel of dropping a few hundreds on the craps table and getting chips, or taking your won tokens to the cage and getting a few hundreds.

I am the opposite most of my transactions are cash or check ( only servers related expenses i pay with cards - the pre-paid ones)

anyone claiming cash is dead has a very limited life experience speaking there.
