Some Perspective...

I was looking for something a little better than that to post, but couldn't really find anything quick.

I checked the Make-A-Wish site, but they didn't have anything up yet that I could find.

Yeah, I couldn't find anything either but this snippet I'd posted yesterday in a minicamp blog.

* 6-year-old Ian Gregory was the Cowboys' special guest at practice Wednesday morning. He met the players, rode to practice on the team bus, participated in running back drills and broke down the huddle at the end of practice. Gregory, who has T-cell lymphoma and is currently undergoing chemotherapy, had the chance to meet and play catch with his favorite player, Marion Barber, a moment that will be featured on ESPN's My Wish series on Sportscenter later this summer.

Probably too soon to check ESPN's TV guide to figure out when it might air.

Well here I was all set to go into the members section and ask for moral building posts...because I am/was depressed as hell about being in the lung clinic again battleing a lung disease (pnemonia) that just won´t quit...It started to remind me of the 3 Wars I fought in with the rate I am losing room mates...But after reading Fred's story I suddenly don't feel as sorry for myself as I did just a few minutes ago...

Hey, I just got over pneumonia a couple of weeks ago. Hang in there man. It sucks bad. I literally would lose my breath talking. Clear liquids flushed me out fast along with the antibiotics.

Appreciate the "pat on the back" bro... but I have been fighting this thing since January and haven't been able to work since April...they let me leave the hospital for a couple of days after about a fortnight in and than I have to go back...we make some progress and than no progress but atleast we haven't had any rapid regression.... Shame on me I didn't mean to turn this great thread into something it was not meant to be.

I heard that Mike Irvin did something along the lines like Aikman did also...

The Cowboys of the mid/late 90’s where great to kids! My 14 year old daughter started fighting Langerhans cell histiocytosis at the age of 2 and she spent a LOT of time at Children’s Hospital in Dallas. The Dallas Cowboys Organization always had something going on there for the kids and there is a floor that was in part if not all paid for by donations from the team and players. I think Troy had a lot to do with it.

The players and etc always treated the kids with respect but did not dumb down how they acted with the kids. I remember one Moose Johnson having a special player card made up and would hand out a few to the kids that he hand picked for what ever reason. My daughter was given one, but um yea my x gave it away (long story ugg). I also remember the players treated my new son great as well even though he was not sick, he still has a team pic with autographs from the players that visited it is hanging on his wall not bad for being 10 years old..

So all and all there are a lot of great things they did that never happened on the football field! I am sure other teams and players do this as well but it makes it special when you are personally involved with it, always will be a Cowboys fan!

My wife is currently battling pneumonia; she's had it for a couple of months, the docs now think its bronchitis -- sounds she's over teh worst of it. Thanx for the inspiriation, guys. I'll pass along your stories to her.

Ah. Of course.

I've got a 7 and a 10 year old son, so both these stories really got to me. I just can't imagine a parent going through that.

There's nothing more painful on this earth than watching a child die. Even more painful is knowing you outlived your own child.
