Over the weekend there was a lot of distorted facts and cliche's posted. I'll lay out the facts and the math is clear.

Vinateri - target and best avaialable
82% Career FG %
76/92 30-39
74%,94% 80% Last 3 seasons

Edinger - new fan favorite
75% career
33/49 30-39
72% 63% 73%

Cundiff - whipping boy
73% career
16/22 30-39
75%,77%,63%

Josh Brown - for a draft pick
79%
22/25 30-39
73%,92%,72%

Matt Bryant - frequent cut kicker
81%
26/32 30-39
78%,75%,84%

Vanderjack - a drunk, choker and sucks - over weekend
88% career
62/68 30-39
100%,80%,92% 80/87 last 3 years!

I know who I want kicking for us next year, and its not Cortez, Suisham or another bargain kicker.

Edinger supporters need to look at his stats. He's pretty bad and kicks in a dome.

Brown ok but worth a draft pick? Only made 72% last year, lower than Cundiffs career 73%.

The Vanderjack detractors silence very predictable. There is no denying his career accuracy.

My money is on Vanderjack, Vinateri. Almost every other option and you are going back down last years bargain basement solution. You want to play close games BP = Pony up for a kicker. You have $22M left and Allens savings in wings.

I'd still rather have Vinatieri then any of the others. Understand he wants $2-1/2-$3M yearly with $10M guaranteed. Certianly got no problem with 2-1/2 (but can live with $3M if Jones can), but would only guarantee $6M. Get him here and get the deal done. No more lost games because of lousy kicker.

Lets say that the unthinkable happens and the Cowboys don't address this position in free agency.... Have you looked at kickers in the draft(or a UDFA) to determine who might be a leading candidate based on BP's normal criteria in finding a kicker?

Parcells before coming here liked older more reliable type kickers. But he also went with Adam V as a kid with Pats. He likes guys that don't miss 40 and in.

Kinda simplistic Parcells likes any kicker who doesn't miss much! 80% - is a number he has thrown out in past as a target I believe.

Vanderjack and Vinateri will get paid - because they are the best at what they do and it wins games. With new CBA and evolving importance of kicking game the Neanderthal 1972 viewings of kickers as short soccer guys will be smashed out.

Godsmack!

Edinger kicked in a dome for one year, prior to that he kicked in Chicago, one of the worst places to kick in the league.

He kicked just as bad in the dome last year at 73%. Thats compared to 63% and 72% previous 2 years in Chicago.

To level set how bad that is - Billy Cundiff is a career 73% kicker.

Scared of Edinger yet?

Well, he was 7-13 last year outside a dome!

That scare you yet?

Hos will love this - he's only 5-8 - smurf kicker!

Parcells is old school- he doesn't like kickers much to begin with and having 2 on the roster will be a tough sell, although he did say at a PC last year he wouldn't rule it out. Having said that there are almost no viable options out there. I think we need to seriously consider a kickoff guy and Vanderjagt. If we use our 7th on Josh Huston we get a guy that had 70% of his kickoffs at OSU last year as touchbacks and you get three years to develop him as a FG kicker at minimal cost.
