Special teams performance was singled out by The Man DeCamillis, rookie kicker Buehler hit the balll about 10 times, with 2 touchbacks. Decamillis singled out pat watkins for his coverage, while rb alonzo coleman broke through the entire coverage 3 times.

On the 3-4 defense, this report I found said that the most impressive of all the big DEs is Igor Olshansky at 6-6 and about 309 pounds, with huge arms and shoulders, while looking impressively strong and quick moving easily through pass rush drills.

Something that caught my eye was on kickoffs, with coveages by players after buehler kicked off, McBair jogged gingerly as if a late addition to the coverage unit. So, I dont know if the writer meant that McBrair was going to be used on kickoff coverage too, or if McBrair was just jogging some to get kinks out after being hurt last year.

After practice with alot of players trying to sneak out without reporters getting any news from the players, McBrair slipped off his kicking shoes and started booming high tight spirals downfield, several appearing to be in the 50 yard range area. The reporter said that judging by the way he got around after such a serious injury last year that he couldnt play, but the way McBrair was punting the ball, was very impressive.

thought some of you would like these nuggets i ran across, didnt see anyone post something like this yet,

Buehler...NOOOOOOO!

Seriously though, this Olshansky pickup is looking smarter by the day.

Screw Canty. Let's see some IGOR.

thats what the writer said, just posting what he said after viewing practice at OTAs

i think to a degree you have to remember that buehler hurt his knee alittle in the valley ranch building bubble collapse

so maybe he is just healing up alittle still

and at same time, you have to remember the football is a lot different from college footballs to pro footballs, so you have to get used to that too

give buehler time, he will come around;

That is 60% in the new stadium because there will be no wind. Outdoors it is going to be less.

Was he supposed to be trying to get touchbacks, or was he kicking to setup a return so that they could work on coverage teams?

Pat Watkins committed 1/3 of Dallas' penalties on special teams last year according to Rafael Vela.

He's not going to start in Dallas, imso.

Jerry Jones was forced to pay Hamlin big money or over pay due to this fact, imo.

I want Watkins cut.

Just wait until he starts grabbing facemasks and getting 12 men on the field penalties with the game on the line.

That stuff gets coaches fired.

I wouldn't trust him.

Exactly. And before all that happens he's probably going to snap his spine in half beacuse of poor tackling mechanics.

That's 20% in practice. Not looking so promising as Buehler predicted. I barely remember what a Cowboys touchback is. Most are kicked to around the 15 or out of bounds.

No worries.

David Buehler is just saving his leg.

He is the reason Jerry Jones wanted retractable doors beyond each end zone.

Now I would ask the writer just where were most of the balls Buehler was kicking landed- how close on average to the goal line. If you can get it inside the 5 consistently, that will really show in the stats and opponents field position.

Forget the 60%, that's just a guy being egotistical. 20% is pretty decent, but the real factor is how deep he's getting the one's that aren't getting TB'd. The 5 yard line? At the end zone line? A yard or two deep?

This kicking thing is getting on my nerves. I'm guessing he was not going to be a free agent, we had to have him in the draft.

This guy had better start nailing 8 out of 10 if he wants to make this roster.

Man, it's only OTA's, no pads, no game plan type stuff. And it's ONE persons observations.
And not even June...this is for what the OTA's are for....not to cut people already.
As for Watkins, IF he really had 1/3 of the penalties, maybe he's the one we should kepp....at least he is aggressive and trying to make plays....and look at the coach last year. Maybe the new coach can correct that.

2 explanations:

1. What fun is it, and what kind of learning would be going on, if the returners took field depth into consideration and accepted every touchback.

2. Ferris Bueller day off:cool:
