LT David Diehl (the starting LG for the first 10 games of the season)

LG Mitch Petrus (first career start)

C Kevin Boothe (reserve lineman who'd played LG the week before)

RG Chris Snee

RT Kareem McKenzie

Above is an ESPN article about the Giants' OL and the expected starters Sun nite. Bass is out with HAs and is undergoing tests to determine the cause. He's their starting C. Their LT Beatty is out due to eye surgery a couple of weeks ago. Snee is battling injuries. McKenzie is not full strength either. Diehl is out of position as is Boothe. The entire left side of their OL is messed up.

Not sure how that will play out Sunday night. Other teams players including their subs often have career days when they play Dallas. But I expect Diehl to have trouble with Ware. I would bet they have to put a TE over there most of the time. The trouble with that is Ware will just change sides or come up the middle some.

Spencer, Rat, and the DEs will need to stop the run. If the Giants get a lead and are able to run the ball they will play action us to death. And Eli is good there no matter how bad he looks doing it. I think we can stop their run game.

If they can get pressure on Eli they will force some TOs IMO. Eli does get rattled and is gun shy. He's also prone to put the ball on the ground. I expect at least one FF this game from Eli.

The occasional confusion in the secondary must be minimized this game for sure. They will also need to work on those soft zones in the middle of the field and the problems with flat passes or it may be a long day. I expect they will blitz Eli at first and see how that works. If Eli beats it early on then again I expect a long day/close game.

I also expect the Giants to be liberal blitzing us. We must win some of those battles. As always having a running game and being able to do some play action is helpful. I do think the Giants will be soft in the middle as well and I expect Witten to have a very big day against their LBs. In fact NY may overplay Witten at first.

I have no idea what to expect from the Giants secondary with the return of Austin. Miles, Dez and Robinson haven't been on the same field together much. I believe the Giants will rotate double coverage on Miles and Dez in hopes of guessing right more often than not. I don't know the Giants well enough to know if they will deploy some special packages with five or more DBs in an effort to slow our WRs down. OTOH, we have the same problem covering them.

I expect a very physical game and I wouldn't be surprised it escalates some at times. Either team could blow the other out but the best chance is for another nail biter for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys must do better in the RZ to win this game along with coming out on the positive side for TOs.

Hope I will be able to sleep well Sunday night.

Jason Garrett called, said you forgot to add "in all three phases of the game".

First off, nice OP to start the thread. We don't seem to grasp quickly, how just such things are what Rob Ryan is studying. The Dallas defense will be very important in the outcome of this very game. One would wish, at least, that weaknesses on Giant offense and defense can be worked strongly in how they are attacked. This is a game where nice, and sports should be left on the sideline and the Gints totally attacked....and where it hurts. :D

Defeating their defensive line will affect much of the sway in the game's mechanics, but as you point, there are ways to affect that as well. To shut down their offense would go a long way towards giving Rob major tools to use.:giants:

Good safe pre game thought for those who lose control. Hide the gun and bullets just in case. :laugh2:

Dude, give jobberone a chance. It's a process. He just has to evaluate the situation and get better going forward by being GREAT each day. And then we'll go from there.

This is starting to sound like the newspeak from Demolition Man.

Be well!

I heard Mike Lombardi talk about the defensive lines (d-fronts) deciding this game, and the flip side is which offensive line handles the other side better.

This is why you draft Tyron Smith at # 9.

So we're back to the old adage the game is won in the trenches. :)

The Giants are hurting.

Of course we do only that when we win all of a sudden those game or teams mean nothing anyone could have won it.

I disagree. I think it's a huge deal to beat the Ginas. They almost beat the packers last week. They have talent. So what that they lost their last 4 games... They lost to the 49'ers, Eagles, New Orleans, and Greenbay. 3 out of 4 of those are tops in their division, and the Packers are tops in the whole league.

We beat the Giants on Sunday night, and we will get TONS of respect. We will have risen to the occasion for the first time in a long time.
