i feel really good about Sam Williams pick .
i'm not fretting that at all.

But it's these Nashon Wright picks who most felt was a major reach in the 3rd rd. and all the more looking like it that i'd like
this team to avoid that's killing us in the long run.
Sam was being viewed more as a 3rd rd player, don’t hate the pick, but Jones was being projected as a Chris Jones type of player. We are seeing what happens when you miss on players, our children depth is very average

DTs is a position that is very hard to nab an impact player. They just don't fall off trees.
Look at the number of past DTs that were drafted as high as first round but we still don't hear much from them

- Bills Ed Oliver who the Cowboys reportedly coveted very much ....
- Niners Jevon Kinlaw another coveted draftee , has been more of a serviceable piece than the next DeForrest Buckner
- We await to see how Jordan Davis pans out

- at the time, i thought of packaging 3rd rd picks (ala Wright, Golston) to move up to draft Christian Barmore who went to NE Pats instead.
but it now seems we go for quantity over quality. We don't do the key trade ups anymore in the NFL draft.
It’s an area where we are going to have to use premium resources for no matter the risk or the cost of getting them either draft, fa or trade market.

There were a least a half-dozen CZers that railed on LVE since training through midseason.
No negative comments lately...nor any mea culpas from rheim either.

That's cuz LVE hasn't played.
it isn't that LVE is such a force of a difference maker ... its more of the Lack of quality of LBs around him when he is out.

Barr is slow and limited .. Clark is a rookie who is having his learning lumps ... and who do we have after that ?.... Gifford ?
..and what has Cox done since being activated per injury situation ?

LVE best game to claim was the Texans game where he really did have a very fine game.
But if you think that's enuff to where we should not pursue an upgrade in the offseason over the vet LBs we have right now ... ? HaHa !

My comment was about his dectractors.

Nowhere in my post did I state that I state I was in awe of his play this season -- or the other LBs - individually or collectively.

Improvement in that group is definitely needed for next season - via a couple players on the roster now improving, quality FA signings, getting some talent in the draft.

Right now, though...the Cowboys will have to roll with what they got for the playoffs...and hope their best efforts helps the team advance.
