Some "Shallow" Thoughts.

Just some random thoughts that came to my addled brain while watching the games yesterday. They are not of the "Deep Thoughts" variety(Thanks Jack Handy),but closer to the "Scattershooting" type (Thanks Blackie Sherrod).

* On Blackie Sherrod,you young'ns need to go google his name if you are not familiar with him;He makes these so called scribes of today look downright silly....Are ya listeneng,Randy Galloway,and JFE?;
* Am I the only one who got a real sinking feeling yesterday when Sean Payton trotted out Haley Joel to try the field goal? Lookit,the Saints had come back from some serious mistakes on their part,and frankly,in my opinion,sorta had the Bears where they wanted them. The Saints were slowly winning the field position battle,a battle that I thought would be critical in that game. But neaux....Let Lil' Billy miss it,and we all knew he would,and the Bears have the short field. They don't make it,have to punt,and pin the Saints back on their goal line...Safety...And the snowballing starts! I really believe that game changes if the Saints punt,pinning the Bears back,and giving Grossman more yardage with which to make a mistake. Maybe it wouldn't have made a difference,but I think the Cundiff attempt was a panic move by Payton.
*The Seahawks depleted,patchwork secondary could have done a better job than the Saints secondary...I swear the Saints secondary looked just like ours when we played them...Huge gaps.
*I think we could have done a better job against the Bears than they did,but thats just my worthless opinion.
*Was the taunting by Reggie Bush really necessary,or rather bush league in itself? I thought his immaturity in the Rose Bowl was an abberation,but maybe not.
* I saw in the paper that today,1-22-07,is considered "Blue Monday",or the most depressing day of the year(Holidays over,bills due,etc.). Not so! The real BM will come after the last game. For some,that will be the Super Bowl;Others,the Pro Bowl.For me,it's the Super Bowl,cause we ain't in it!
*In the next two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl,we will hear and see, ad nauseum,the following:(Feel free to add your own)
" This is an historic occasion,with the first two black HC to meet in the SB.....And they are the best of friends! " (Doesn't that just give you a warm fuzzy feeling?);
"Peyton Manning has finally gotten the monkey off his back" (We are about to be Peytonized to death,or better yet,Manningized!);
"The Colts erased the largest deficit to come back and win,18 points!"(18 points doesn't seem like such a hurdle considering the offense of the Colts-you wanna talk deficit??Talk Oilers-Bills in the division championships);
* We will most likely see a new,revised Super Bowl shuffle,again....and again...and again... I thought the first one sucked!
*Funny how the announcers kept bringing up how the Colts erased a large deficit to come even with the Pats in a previous championship,only to lose 38-34.....And yet I didn't hear any of them point out the irony of the final score....38-34!

Thanks for the time...just some useless drive from an old Fert!

Don't worry, with the "first black SuperBowl Coach" thing, there will not be time to be "Manningized".

I can't decide who I'd rather see win the Super Bowl.

On one hand, I'd like to see the Colts win because Dungy is a class act. But on the other hand, I'd love to see Chicago's defense run riot.

But if the Bears win, I don't think I could take another 10 years of Super Bowl (Part II) shuffle replays.

Decisions, decisions . . . .

But I think if the Colts get an early lead, the Bears are in serious trouble. I don't see Grossman bringing them back.
