Am I the only one worried about our depth at OLB? When Spencer gets hurt (which we all know will happen at some point.) Are we really prepared to have rookies play in that spot?

Everyone keeps bringing up our WRs and my opinion on that is that we are more than fine. Look at Tennessee's WRs or Baltimore's WRs and tell me we don't have better WR's than them and those 2 teams were considered 2 of the better teams in the AFC! Don't fret about them because hopefully we will be going to a more balanced attack anyways.

I really feel like Tony Romo will have a much better year this year because he is healthy and he won't be forced to throw to one certain WR anymore.

Watch out for Mike Jenkins this year. Coming into the league he wasn't nearly as ready for the NFL as the other CB's in the draft but he has loads of potential and after watching his game tape again, he did improve each game which is encouraging.

Just somethings to think about during the slow off-season. :starspin

I want to see how they get Barber, Felix, and Tashard the ball. So if we run the ball 30 times, my guess is Barber - 15; Felix - 10; Tashard - 5? That's not enough carries for Tashard unless they somehow incorporate more screens and HB passes.

Anyone remember how Romo played when he was first inserted into the starting lineup? Lighting quick reads, didnt lock on, and got the ball out. If it wasnt there he tucked it and got yards.

I expect that Romo to return to a certain degree. I absolutely LOVE how he always keeps his eyes downfield, but I think he is going to go back to his quick reads again with less pressure on getting the ball to TO

Great point! Thats the Tony Romo I think we will see this year and he is a much better QB when he can get the ball out quicker using his quick release.

I'm not worried OLB. We will be fine.

Nor do I think it is given that Spencer will get hurt. He is not made of glass.

I'm really getting tired of the little *****es on this board about Spencer. He does not deserve 1/10th of the **** he gets from our fans. He is a studly prospect who played well last year and is being given the opportunity to shine this year.

Too many of you treat him like he is Barbie Carpenter. He isn't. So quit dogging the guy.

As to the rest of your points, this team is fine on talent. We have plenty of talent at every position to win it all. This team's failure has NOTHING to do with talent. We just have to pull it all together which has to do with coaching and leadership. But we don't need to worry about the ability of our players.

It's not that I am questioning his ability because I'm not. I believe he does have the potential of a LaMarr Woodley or a Shaun Phillips. I just know he hasnt been healthy enough lately to show that potential. Hopefully he can this year.

Practically speaking, it will be difficult if not impossible to spread the ball to 3 different backs. My guess is Choice won't see a lot of action unless someone is hurt.

I hope so. I really do. Its HIS part of HIS game.

Always = too much for my taste. Should be situational. If they are coming hard and fast with ears pinned back... please adjust. :)

I don’t understand all the Spencer hype. The guy has been here for two seasons, right? When he first came in i thought he had all the talent to be another dynamic bookend...but he hasn’t. He lacks the marbles upstairs. Not sure that changes because Ellis is with the Bengles. It’s ok, when he flops you can blame it on his constant injuries, again. I hope one of the other rookies can play or hell stick Bobby on the end, i still can’t get the Seattle game out of my head.

I still don’t know if this team can run consistantly. Too many mental errors, too many penalties. Will Roy Williams be healthy? Austin Miles? Can any of these guys last 16 games? I have my doubts about them too.

Romo is going to be Romo. He is what he is. He is going to make great plays...and, well, you know what else he will do.

If Mike Jenkins can learn to tackle he might actually become a football player.

Right now, id say we are a 9-7 team after scratching and clawing to get it.

I was so impressed with him from the first 2006 preseason action I saw and it wasn't just because the expectations on him were non-existent for me.
I honestly couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I expect great things from Tony in 2009.

I think the best way to utilize our 3 RBs is to use Barber at FB for a good part of the game.

Lets assume we run 65 plays a game.

Down and distance and sometimes game situation will dictate a 3 WR set for about 18 plays a game.

Bennett's talent calls for a 2 te set for about 25 plays.

That would leave about 22 plays for a 2 RB set. If we use Barber at FB for those 22 plays in front of Jones or Choice, it will help get all three plays more touches.

The staff would have to sell it to Barber as a way to stay on the field for more plays and not a position change.

Barber could get 20 plays as a single RB and 22 as a FB. That's 42 snaps. More than enough to get 15 carries and 3 receptions.

That would still leave 23 single RB set plays and 22 two RB set plays to divide up between Jones and Choice.

I'd give 30 to Jones and 15 to Choice.

And for those who think Barber at FB is foolish, please list his abilities and describe his game.

Completely agree. I've said from day one this offseason that I would love Barber at FB in certain packages.

He is a good and willing blocker, and we all know how physical he is. I would assume he wont be asked to block very often, but he's capable of doing it. The defense would not know who to key on with him and Felix or Choice back there together.

Misdirections would be killer.

Touche.

I like how it is his main focus though. But yes, I'm all for him running when he needs to run. As far as quarterbacks go, he is one of the more athletic ones out there.

We've had rookies play OLB for us 3 of the last 4 years. Of course, all 3 of those were 1st round picks.

Some would argue that at 6-0 225 he's too small to play FB. Your average FB in todays game is 250 plus. But I believe some of the best FB's were undersized. Ron Springs, Rocky Blier, Mat Suey.

And Barber is a strong 225. It's all prime. He'd be such a threat as a runner and receiver.

I think that Barber and Choice should share most of the carries with Felix getting 3rd down and long down and distance work.

I knew we were on same page. :) I just want Tony to be Tony..... without the Favre impressions.
