1-We heard Broaddus drop a Javon Kinlaw bomb yesterday, that he may possibly be an injury red flagged player. Said heard issues with knees, hip & back through his scout channels. Let's remember what we know, Kinlaw has only missed 1 game in his career due to injury. He may slide a little, but it will be difficult for some teams to pass on such a prospect. My guess he is off the board when the Cowboy are on the clock.

2-We cannot rule out the team trading back to target Michigan's Center-Ruiz. Peter King is respected insider and has many contacts throughout the league. Ruiz has the potential to become a day 1, plug and play, impact starter. In my opinion, he isn't a special talent and the team just has too much cap funds along the OL. If we do see the Cowboys move back, he good be their target.

3-I believe the Cowboys are zeroing in on 2 main targets at 17. Chaisson/Murray in that order. Both were expected to be apart of the 30 visits and have been talking with the Cowboys throughout the process. Believe both players have 1st rd grades by the team. If they have to make a pick at 17, it will be one of these two.

4-Been on the CB train for the entire off-season. With that said, I want no part taking a 1st rd CB, unless it's a trade down in rd 1 or a trade up in rd 2. Henderson scares me more then any other prospect in this entire class. After him, the majority of the remaining CB's probably will be assigned 2nd rd grades. The 2nd rd could be a sweet spot to land a starting caliber CB or a high end Wide Receiver.

5-The team is going to draft a linebacker. We have seen Dane project a linebacker in every Cowboy Mock Draft. I have read that Nolan has worked on some linebacker prospects prior to the pandemic. His last stop was an linebacker coach in New Orleans. No one should be surprised if we take a LB within the top 100.

6-Based on who the team has spoken with, it appears they might want to double up along the DL. We know they have interest with Chaisson, Gross-Matos, heard they are doing their homework on Lewis from Alabama. Curtis Weaver is another player they have shown major interest with. It isn't just Defensive End either. When you look at the list, there are a ton of mid rounders they are interested in.

#2 Peter King has many contacts in the league. Yep and one of em is Jerry who we all know cant shut his yapper. BTW the fact that they have shown a lot of interest in Ruiz suggests they aren't nearly as comfortable with what is on the roster on the OL as some posters are.

Murray in the first is a nightmare. A 3rd LB is a part time player in today’s NFL. You don’t spend a first on a guy who might not be on the field 70% of the time
I don't particularly want Murray at 17 but tell me where there isn't a question mark at LB. Isn't Sean Lee a starter with the body of an 80 year old? Every starting LB on this team has major question marks IMO.

I know Dane has mocked a LB but I'd be surprised if we take one with a top 100 pick. I'm just counting the numbers and we've got 8 that will likely be on the roster already (LVE, Smith, Lee, Thomas, Covington, Gifford, March and Jelks as a Wilbur type option)

I have more confidence in Joe Thomas as a starter than Anthony Brown, Joe Looney and maybe even Connor Williams. And Joe Thomas isn't a starter.

True but the flipside is you have even bigger questions at CB, DE, WR..........

I mean ask yourself this............ if you had a gun to your head, of these three groupings, which would you expect to play the best:

1) LVE, Smith, Lee
2) Awuzie, Lewis, Brown
3) Lawrence, Crawford, Gregory/Smith

Seems to me that if you had to pick one group that you think would play the best in 2020, it would likely be the LB group. That's not to say taking Murray would be horrible but the reality is if this franchise is using the draft to fill holes, LB probably isn't at the top of that list.

I'm on your same page, but let's look at him objectively:

-Sean Lee is on a 1 yr contract. Lve should be fine, but nobody knows how healthy he truly is.
-Jaylon was used more as a blitzer in the nickel.
-Nolan wants to run more of a hybrid scheme, xwalker did a great analysis of what New England has done, 5-6 linebacker packages, with just 2 down lineman

LB isn't my first or even second choice in round one but if they took one I think we'd be getting a good player.

Outside of the top 4, the remaining has to earn their roster spots.

How is that different to any other position on the roster? We're not using top 100 picks to be the 5th LB on the roster.

Perhaps Jaylon becomes more of an edge rusher then playing the traditional MLB role. I don't like the pick either, but appears they have great interest with Murray.

I would hate the pick, but my least favorite defensive starter is Jaylon Smith.
The thing I noticed about Smith was he wasn't very consistent. One game he was a run stopping machine and the next he just disappeared. The story that came out about him not putting in the extra time kind of made me wonder.

That makes sense considering the quality of their D-line vs LB's. I don't think it makes sense with ours though

Let's hope Nolan can find a way to put Jaylon Smith in better positions to succeed. I would move him to the strong-side and make him more of a blitzer/rusher in the nickel.

LB is not our greatest need, but its still a need. Every starter has questions marks with durability. Joe Thomas is an above average backup, but we have nothing behind him. Its an easy scenario to see two of our top 3 out for extended periods of time.

I think a Murray pick would mean 1 of 2 things. Either LVE is not as healthy as he and the team claims, or Jaylon has one more year and he's out the door.

agree on all points.

i'll add this...nothing will surprise me regarding the 1st Rd....Chaisson,Henderson,Murray or Ruiz.

2nd....I love double-dipping at DT and i think they might at CB as well.

very excited to see the first draft under a new regime with new preferences.

And I think George Edwards that we hired from the Vikings was a LB guy too so the coaching should be there.

A few of mine, Detroit won’t pick at three. I just don’t see them picking a CB at three. They had a good cb in Slay last year and they stunk. Why use number 3 for a cb? Someone is going to move up there for a qb. Detroit May still pick a cb in the top 10 though.

Tua health is the big question mark. If healthy, he is a franchise altering qb. Even with some questions of health, if I was a fan of Miami, chargers, Jacksonville, Raiders, etc I would be fine with them being aggressive and gambling on Tua.

I don’t get the hype of Riggs. He played with an elite qb and was probably their fourth best WR. He is not going to be a wr 1 in the NFL and with this draft class I would not take him in round 1. Some team may use him right but I think he will be overdrafted.

I hope we stay clear of linebacker, offensive line, safety, rb in round one. I think safety is a big need but don’t see a guy who I would pick mid first round. Linebacker may be a big need but that is a high injury position. I would prefer using mid round picks for linebackers. I don’t think I would go with CB at 17 either. A move back in the first would make this more appealing though.
