There’s a lot to like about Rapp but I just think he’s limited. Dude runs a time Barry Church would blush at and you say “well, that’s okay....he’ll play in the box,” but the kid is 5’-11” 208 lbs; he looks tiny on the field. I’m having a hard time envisioning him bringing down 230 lbs Saquan Barkley, let alone 6’-5” 255+ lbs TEs consistently without getting wrecked physically.

But in fairness, I tend to be drawn towards athletic, rangy FS types over SS types. So I'd take a kid like Thornhill or Savage or Gardner a million times over a guy like Rapp (or Abram who also seems to be a SS type, granted more athletic than Rapp).

I like Harris. I have caught few of his games as I have some family members who went to BC.

I cannot speak 100% on Thornhill. But from what I’ve read, seen on film and such, the kid is as versatile as they come.

Can play CB, SS and FS.

Thornhill is a pretty decent swiss army knife which is valuable nowadays.

In a heavy cover 3 / cover 1 scheme like ours he's an SS. He covers the intermediate routes, gives you run support, and can come up and man someone. Lot of teams rolling out cover 3 and man based schemes are putting their playmaking safeties at SS. Being able to cover and play run support with good instincts is valuable considering they're kinda the chess piece in the secondary.

He's just as good in a cover 2 heavy scheme like the Colts, he can play 2 high, help disguise coverage, come up and (hopefully) make plays, fill gaps, tackle someone. He's good at either position and it gives them some flexibility on defense.

I don't think he makes it past 50 to be honest. He can play either, and has a history of forcing turnovers. He's reliable in run support and can get better. So, in a cover 2 he's both, theyd use his skillset closer to the LOS more often though and that doesn't mean just run support, "closer to the LOS" nowadays also means shallow routes, TEs, etc. In a cover 3 single high he's an SS for the same reason. Either scheme you can disguise with him since he can play the backend pretty well.

How well he does in the NFL not sure. He probably ends up being pretty solid. Haven't looked at other safeties much, but don't like Rapp. Abrams is a good player but risky, if that's who Richard's wants though I'm probably cool with it.

If Thornhill isn't there, and personally I don't expect him to be, I don't think I'd go S in round 2.
