The game was a comedy of errors, miscues, bad personnel groupings with regard to calls made, and poor execution... You name it and we did it. I mean seriously folks... Early in the game when you have 4th & 1 deep in the heart of the enemy's territory and you elect to kick a FG instead of going for it??? Right there early in the 1Q we told the Vikings that we had zero nads... I know hindsight is 20/20 and all but I was disgusted when Wade made the call even before shankham missed the kick. You go for it and give your offense a chance to make a strong statement early in the game... period.

Throughout the game I found myself on numerous occasions wondering "why are they running that play with that package"... Barber is a North South downhill runner. Why on earth would you think you could get to the edge with his slow lumbering ***? Flozell get hurt and you attempt to block Jared Allen with Jason Witten??? Really??? Why not just insert Free??? It took almost getting our QB killed to finally see Free in there at LT... BTW, I think Free may be the future at LT. I keyed on him the rest of the game and he manned up quite well. On one running play to the left he buried Pat Williams into the ground onto his back after pushing him 5 yards off the LOS.

Some things just aren't sitting well with me today. I'm weary about both our HC and OC. How do you go from what we contributed against the Eagles last week to practically not showing up at all? I would like to think there's something to build upon but just can't wrap my mind around exactly what that something is... My only hope is that this loss hurt Jerry just as much as it did some of us. I hope he isn't content with the status quo. Something has got to change...

This is hardly 44-6, but it was a let down even after I'd tried to talk myself into believing I wouldn't take a loss hard. That said, I can't see Jerry Jones doing anything. What can he do really? What name wants this HC job (let's face it, the next coach will be Garrett or a name, whenever he takes the throne)? Who would be an acceptable non-star coach to the fans?

Not one dam thing is going to change, Wade will get his option picked up and we are stuck with Garrett since there is no chance in hell of Redball getting a HC gig after this trainwreck.

"Continuity".............that is what is most important here.

Nice post. Agree on most accounts

Witten on Allen was absoluetly comical.:(

I really think we have a lot of dumb players on this team. They make the coaches look worse than they really are. Look no further than Sensabaugh's non-play on the TD pass.

That said, Garrett showed why he doesn't deserve a job in the NFL. I wouldn't trust this clown with a high school team.

I feel your pain Beast. We can debate both sides of the argument until the end of time. One thing clearly stands out amongst the rest of the garbage that the Boys brought to the field yesterday. Red definitely showed his true color is still green.

I agree, some of the play calling was "strange".

I fear that some of these guys are only playing because of the money they make and not what they bring to field.

You will never convince me that the Vikings Defensive Line is that much better than the Cowboys Offensive Line.

Again, just like Brad Childress told Chris Meyers at halftime, "You notice you didn't hear Demarcus Ware's name after that 1st Sack, that was because we adjusted".

The Vikings adjusted, the Cowboys did not.

I think you try for the first down & make a statement that they are in for a battle all day, especially with the way our FG kickers have been. Looks like we took the easy way out.

The defense was fine for the most part....Jason Garett KILLED this defense....that 7 yard loss by Barber on our first drive of the 2nd half AFTER the defense forced a 3 and out. That play deflated this entire team....and we walked the ball down the field with EASE. With FELIX JONES. Even a run straight ahead for no gain was better than a toss to the slowest RB in the stadium. Garrett did this type of thing OFTEN in our losses this year...actually he did it often in our wins as well...but we could overcome them against bad teams. The amount of points we scored a game this year was not equal to the amount of yards we put up week after week.

The whole ting, basically comes down to this. The Cowboys were ill-prepared. There's no two ways about it. The game plans on both offense and defense were absolute crap.

On one side (offense) yo had a guy getting too cute. and on defense you had a defensive secondary that was completely ill-prepared. The first TD to Rice was an absolute joke. Newman ole'd Rice to Sensebaugh who was obviously not up to the task of keeping Rice from making the catch (though he had decent coverage, he never turned to look for the ball). That's bad preparation and even worse execution.

The Vikes won and, quite frankly, they deserved to. The O-line, once again, abandoned Romo when he needed them most. I'm sure the media pundits will spin it that Romo couldn't cut it again. That couldn't be farther from the truth. Despite his tunovers, Romo and Felix were the only guys on that whole team who earned a paycheck yesterday.

While I agree with much of your post, I think Free was in on the play where Witten almost got Romo Killed. Free Blocked inside then tried to get out to help, but by that time Allen was on Romo...

As for maximizing F Jones and MBIII skill set, I'd use MBIII between the tackles for the most part, while FJ can be used in a variety of ways.

As for the Minn game, given MIBIII is also recovering from an injury, etc., I'd wouldn't be tossing the ball out wide to him.

It was just a wierd game overall for us on the offensive side. We really didn't execute (i.e., the fumbled snap from Gurode to Romo as an example).

yessirr.......J.Allen was outside of Witten extremly wide, who was lined up beside Free, TV crew blasted Witten-----"you gotta want to block".....was basically their line.

They MUST upgrade their O-Line depth this offseason. This game had to have shown they are in serious need of quality depth, especially at the tackles, and that, along with a playmaking safety, have to be at the top of their priority lists this offseason.

that wasnt witten on allen. That was free-witten on allen and free lost his mind and blocked down on williams for no reason at all putting the game out of whack by giving the qb no chance.

look at the technique witten used to block he was banking on inside help the whole time.

Is this hard to figure out? I mean if you have watched football for 5 minutes in your life isnt this one of those things you should be able to see and understand.

Seriously...why would anyone put a TE against an ALL PRO DE??? Free blocked the wrong guy and Witten was supposed to help him.

Romo never had time to scan the field or set his feet. Inserting Columbo back into the lineup turned out to be a mistake. He may have done well against the Eagles but in this game he was a joke.

Here's my take:

Flozell goes down - OLine play gets worse.
Barber getting carries - He's hurt why even play him, he hasn't been the same Barber since he first got hurt in week 2.
RW - not a single catch, he hurt us more than helped.

Barber shouldn't have been playing at all, IMO. One thing that really bothers me about the coaches is that they coddle certain players. Barber starting is symbolic, clearly. Felix gets all the touches anyway. Why? Why can't these coaches just be straight and admit that Felix is the better player and the one who should be in the game when it matters most?

I took issue with a lot of the offensive play calling. But as you said, hind-site is 20-20 and it is oh-so-easy to be an expert sitting where we are. I do think the Vikings defense played really well, but we had out shots early. Three times early we were down to their 30-35 or so and we kept bogging down.

At some point the D is going to were down....and the offense kept putting them in a bad spot later in the game.

It was also a freaky 1st half. Similar stas but only 3 points to show for it.

Both Barber and Columbo shouldn't have played...but because this coaching staff has ZERO guts they put them out there to kill drives and watch mediocre lineman blow by the RT time after time.
