ps-any news on Matt Mcbriar?
1. Unfortunately we only have 11 picks. I wish we had 15. I want 2 WRs in this draft. The two I want the most with the picks we have are Johnny Knox and Mike Wallace. Unfortunately both will most likely be gone by the end of the 3rd or the early 4th....and we have more pressing needs than WR at those picks. Since they will be gone, hopefully either Quan Cosby or Deon Butler will be around in the late 5th or 6th rounds. I would also like to sign Carr and Manuel Johnson as a UDFA if they don't get drafted.
2. I think Sens is the starting SS. I would still like to get a few backups. Two guys I would like to draft to back him up are hybrids.....OLB/SS Jonathan Casillas and ILB/SS Spencer Adkins.
3. I say no. If Boltus is around after the draft, hopefully we can sign him. If not, just wait until next season and go after Colt McCoy.
4. I believe we are sour on McQ. As far as Free goes, I have never seen him in a game. I don't know anything about him. I do not have any idea if we draft an OT with one of our top 2-3 picks. I wouldn't though. After the 5 or so that are slated as 1st round talents....there is a huge drop off in talent.
5. Yes, we need another CB, or even two. Sean Smith is an absolute pipe dream. I like Mark Parson, but he will probably take a 3rd rounder. Two late round prospects I like are Brice McCain and Wopami Osaisai.
6. Who knows. I am not a fan of Cricket. He is often injured and doesn't block as well as I would prefer from a FB. I am not a fan of hybrid FBs for our team. I would prefer throwbacks like Moose and Newhouse. This is why I wanted us to get Lorenzo Neal in FA. With Neal, we could definitely commit to a power running game with our 3-headed backfield. Neal brings a physicality and attitude to the running game that we haven't really had since the days of Moose and Emmitt. In our division, we need to get back to the basics. I hope Dallas will still sign Neal, if he is still available, cut Cricket....and commit to being a power running team. I mean what is the use of having one of the biggest offensive lines ever assembled, if we are not going to bulldoze opposing defenses?
7. Remember at the end of Empire Strikes back when Luke got a new hand......well come next season. McBriar will have a new bionic foot.
