On the final fourth down play, we were in max protect and only sent three recievers out and Witten stayed in to block. Why?

I know some will say "the Giants had been blitzing us crazy" in the fourth quarter so we had too.

No way. This is what you do. It's down to one play. You huddle the line, tell them guys we've played like crap today, but now WE HAVE ONE PLAY TO TOTALLY REDEEM OURSELVES! Send Witten out in the route as well as the recievers and Tony knows going into the play that he may have to make a play with his feet if pressure comes.

Am I crazy or would anybody else have played it this way?

4th and about 20 with no timeouts to go shorter for the first down, Witten wasn't going to make the play for us, imo....better to have him block. Colombo wasn't going to get the job done, and Flozell had resorted to head slapping instead of moving his feet. The OL fell apart. We had our chances before that final play, though.
