I was one of those people that used to laugh at people that said the Refs have a bias against us, I mean how ridiculous does that sound?

Well I'm not so sure anymore. Watching the game yesterday it sure did seem like some of those calls were bogus. Maybe it's just our being known as a penalty heavy team that causes it, maybe the refs just expect penalties and so they go looking for them but even if that's the case, that is also a bias.

On Miles' penalty that was called back, receivers do that ALL the time, if the CB doesn't go to the ground, it's a TD. Moss pushed off as well on that catch he dropped and I promised you he pushed off in that game even more times, off camera.

On the return for a TD, Holley was getting mauled for at least 3-4 seconds as the guy ran by him, and there was no call.

I mean frankly it's getting ridiculous.

+1 its almost seems fixed, it was litarly that bad!!!!

I'm with you. I am tired of it. It is just getting ridiculous all the stuff we get called for.

It does sound ridiculous...but look at the NBA's debacle from a few years back, and look at the NBA's officiating still.

As much as the umpires have their own issues in baseball, at least they get it right - the umps are contracted from an external company, the World Umpires Association. If their evaluation was deemed to be subpar, I bet baseball would look to contract elsewhere.

Myself I don't think it is bias I do think the refs are watching the Cowboys closer because of the reputation of being so penalized that we do not get the benefit of the doubt. I don't think the refs in the NFL care who wins or loses games.

I really don't think it is premeditated.

Dallas just has the title of a penalty-ridden team. Therefore, the officials are on their toes waiting to throw a flag.

I don't believe it is intentional but it is happening. Jerry should really make himself worth while right now and flex a little bit of that muscle he has.

I don't think it will go away this season at all unless someone forces the officials to keep their flag in their pocket.

then look at my P.Harvin TD post since they where watching so hard then this call should have been made yes?? no??

Might be the case, but that's still a bias.

Sorry.

No sale with me.

That Miles PI called was deserved. And the push off was beyond stupid as he had the guy beat.

Once we start blaming the officials, we're victim to the same kind of thinking that has this team in the crapper.

Go out and play a damn clean crisp game.

I'm with you, Count. I've never bought referee conspiracy theories, except maybe with the Steelers. But this year is different. At some point, you can't ignore what your eyes see. I don't know what's going on, but I don't know how this is a coincidence.

And even if it is just a random run of bad luck in officiating, the NFL has become far too overofficiated. Someone mentioned baseball... The great thing about baseball is that there usually aren't even that many close plays in a game. The NFL is now becoming much more like the NBA, where you can call a penalty on literally every play. And that means it becomes a matter of officials calling only certain fouls when they want to. And that's a very bad development.

SMH. I guess they are bias against Detroit for taking that touchdown away from Johnson that cost them the game the first week.

I agree but you have to admit they let things like that slide all the time.

If Jenkins were in a Steelers uniform would he have got called for PI? Especially with the ball 5 feet above the receivers head?

I think we didn't help ourselves after we started mocking the refs after TD's either.

The fact that we are losing compounds the problems. I do not believe the refs are biased at all...

Look at the plays, were the penalties committed? Yes they were. Are we being watched closer? Probably not intentionally but by reputation subconsciencely the refs are and we have earned it.

Austin's push off, happens all the time, the defender went down so the ref had to call it.

The celebration penalty, stupid on Austin's part. It looked rehersed so the ref had to call it.

We can't make excuses or blame the refs, just play smarter.

Excuses are for losers,,, oh wait,,,, nevermind.

Ah yes, the chicken and egg problem.

Did Dallas become the most penalized team because the refs started calling it that way, and so when it happens they can simply reinforce their own creation, or are they that way because the refs are just "doing their job"? <I just snickered>

I say four years, different players, two coaches (one especially known for his discipline), persistent non-holding calls on Ware and Spencer, and the two celebration penalties over the past two games remove all doubt. Neither of the latter had any effect whatsoever on game play, yet the Cowboys were penalized for them in such a way that it affected the team in a disadvantaged way.

To be a ref you have to be a football fan. Football fans have 1 view or another of the Cowboys more than any other team.

Love them or hate them. Very few in the middle ground there. It effects what you call there is no other explanantion for what we get hit with.

The problem is the league is so close in competition and talent that every team in every game commits the same penalties. Its not as easy as saying "come out and play a damn clean crisp game". Maybe by professional football standards we did play a clean crisp game but still ended up on the wrong end of the judgment calls. I am not over the top on the officiating in general.

But here is how i look at it...... For me to deny what my eyes have seen this season would take me being over the top the other way in the favor of the officials being fair. And if i want to stay as neutral as possible for a fan then i have to call it as it is. I am not saying its a vast conspiracy against us. But the league officials have it in their heads that we commit penalties and they look for them and feel completely justified calling them.

At this point Jerry needs to do something big to change it.
He needs to use his power and money to put these calls on front street.
Call a few officials out by name and show the video proof of their missed calls and picky calls against the cowboys. I know it wont happen but if Jerry decided to really make waves this way it would have an impact on the future calls. Just like Phil Jackson cries to the media about the calls and then in the rest of the series his team get all the calls. Its time for Jerry to step up and right this wrong. Let the refs know that they will be accountable for any future blown calls even if he has to pay the fine to do it.

I know it will never happen but it would make for an interesting show. And would actually have an impact. These refs dont want their blown calls to be the subject of national media attention.

If they were watching the vikes as closely as they are the Cowboys no doubt they should have called it but again when a team starts getting a rep the refs tend to watch them much closer.

Sorry if you want me to buy into this notion that the Refs are intentionally trying to keep Dallas from winning then I disagree but I think it is human nature when a person or team gets a reputation then you get looked at a bit more closely than others.

I saw many ticky tack fouls that others may have gotten the benefit of the doubt that the cowboys are not getting as soon as the refs see something close to a foul they are tossing the flag.

In my view that means the Cowboys have got to be more aware about what they are doing

But exactly that is the problem: It simply means they are biased.

You are biased when you treat one team (player) different then the others. And that is independent of the reason why you are doing it.

Plus: if the reason for being biased is the above it doesn't mean you are not biased anymore.
