Didn't they just name a new coach to Gruden's staff to replace Raheem Morris after he moved up to Kiffen's spot? I swear it was just Wednesday or Thursday. 24 to 48 hours later they replace Gruden himself.

Vicious business this stuff. Still think the swiftness of their moves was awesome.

I like how they worked it - none of this coach in waiting crap. They had a young guy who they knew would be a hot commodity in the future and they made a move. Perhaps a year too soon but but that is better than a year too late...

That is the report I heard. Not only that but they, gruden, already had made plans to go to the shrine or senior bowls...what ever they are called.

I guess the whole must have fell through when they also fired GM Bruce Allen.

I have to wonder if Allen or Gruden did something that made the Glazers mad because it seemed like odd timing to wait this long before firing him.

I can understand not wanting to make a hot headed decision right after the last game but it has been some time since then.

So I just have to wonder if Gruden or Allen made them mad because they would not have allowed the other hiring or they would have gotten rid of them sooner.

Only other thing that could make sense is they were talking with Morris prior to telling Gruden and Allen and that was the person he wanted taking his spot. Does seem strange that the same day they get rid of Allen and Gruden they pretty much named Morris the new HC so there had to be some talks with morris prior to that I would think.

Considering how much Gruden keeps changing QBs and the uncertainity that it creates, I am sure Glazers got sick and tired of Gruden Crap. Thats one guy, I don't want near Cowboys.

Other than winning with Dungy's guys, Gruden hasn't done squat, well, I Guess making playoffs couple times is success.

I'm pretty sure Gruden might end up at his old job with Al Davis. The last time the Raiders had any success was when Allen/Gruden were putting together the Raiders.

Although Davis took Tampa for all that money and draft picks, he felt in the end that it hurt the team in the end. Neither side bring up any bad feelings of the departure. Not to mention Gruden is a big fan of Jamarcus Russell. Something AL had a hard time convincing Kiffen to work with.

I'd imagine with all that money Davis threw around to guys like Dhall, Kelly, and Kwame Harris that he'd have enough to make Gruden happy. I think that was why Gruden wanted out in the first place.

I'm surprised that Garrett hasn't interviewed with Oakland yet. Being that Al and Jerrah have a love for each other. You'd think that Al would have eyes for the redhead.

Exactly. And I've read that his players pretty much couldn't stand him.

Even Bryan Broaddus, who is a buddy of Jon's and worked with him in Philly, said you can only stand him for a few years because his hyperactivity plus manic backslapping then berating wears on people.

Not a chance Gruden returns to the Raiders. I can see Pioli changing his mind in KC though.

I expect one of them to land in Oakland(allen or gruden). I think Al has some interest in bringing in someone he trusts and has some ties to the old school guys that Al Davis respects.

Ever since Allen left, Al has been making some detrimental mistakes in the way of coaching hires and personnel decisions.

What would be funny is if Al does rehire Allen then Jerry Jones is really the lone owner/gm type.

Did you see the QB's Gruden had?

I refuse to place all the blame on Gruden. He had a collection of retreads and average players. Heck...they're thinking of franchising Antonio for crying out loud!

Jerry's in such great company right now that hopefully it holds. I mean, when you think success and commendable team management, obviously Oakland and Dallas gotta be at the top of your list. Best idea ever to be owner and GM, and bonus points for hiring as many coaches are you can per decade.

I am kind of surprised that Al has not offered Mike Martz a ton of money to coach the raiders because you know Al would love an offense like that. Although who knows, maybe he has and Martz wants nothing to do with Al or the raiders.

Antonio Bryant is a stud now. Plain and simple. If you can't recognize that, thats too bad.

ANd he will continue to have crappy QBs. If you haven't realized that you don't treat QBs in NFL same way as rest of the other positions, then you aren't watching how QBs are developed.

His idiotic uncertainity and drop of the hat changes to QBs, that creates such issues at QB for him. If a HC is not patience with his QB, he only loses him, especially rookie or early in the career QBs.

I will bet, unless he changes his approach, even if he gets another HC job, he will never have a good QB ( well unless he is handed a Peyton Manning or something).

Bryant has no discipline or common sense. Its just a matter of time before he does something stupid and gets kicked off of his 4th (or is it 5th) team.
