Little FA activity.

Stephen piping up and saying safety is a priority. (Duh! but so is the O line and D line!)

Franchising the VERY OVERRATED Spencer.

Aside from Spears, little unloading of deadwood.

I don't like it.

Something seems amiss. There has to be something afoot.
I cannot connect the dots.

It is like drinking a quart of Gin and waking up in College Station with an ugly A&M woman. Disorientating.

This has been (so far) an odd offseason.

Is Jerra saving his best shot for a deal approximating the Herschell Walker deal?
Is Jerra content to stay where we are?
Is Jerra gonna move up to the top 5 in the draft with some slight of hand?

I do not know how to read this offseason and I feel guilty leaving you, the great unwashed, without my steady precient football mind to guide you.

Hep me read this maddening offseason!

It's simple. This offseason is all about the draft. We need to have a good one.

Dallas doesn't have many absolute holes to fill, because it did that last year whether we like how the Cowboys did it or not.

Last year, we needed at least one corner (Carr), two offensive linemen (Livings, Bernadeau), a vet backup QB (Orton), a fullback replacement (Vickers) and potential starters at safety (Pool) and linebacker (Connor), if the younger players at those positions proved unready.

The only one of those who didn't stick it out to play his role was Pool, and that was because he was finished and Church stepped up. Connor was beaten out be Carter, which made him expendable at his price.

This year, the only absolute need, which has been stated by Stephen Jones, is safety after Sensabaugh's release. Strongside linebacker could be thrown in, but Dallas might like what it saw of Albright last year and feel confident having him challenged by Wilber.

Some vet depth could eventually be brought in at a few spots, but anyone expecting Dallas to make a big splash in free agency or go on a shopping spree isn't realistically looking at what the Cowboys did last year and how many starting spots they want to fill through the free agent market.

That's how the dots connect this year. Expect a few (at most) moderately priced FAs to be added and Dallas simply to add upgrades/depth through the draft.

Not with an aging team/QB it's not.

Romo's not old for a QB. The only part of the team that's aging is the DL, and that's one of the strengths of this draft.

actually it is. you need 3 of the guys you take to impact the team next year.if they do then we should be fine. it's not like we have holes all over the place. we need a safety and atleast a guard. we still should be able to add another vet to the team in f.a.
just because you don't sign a guy the first week does'nt mean you can't get a guy to help your team

little FA activity: it's early, I am actually glad they didn't try to rush in
Safety: Stephen can be counted on to make bold statements, that being said, I don't believe him
Spencer: franchising him makes sense and leaves the options open
Deadwood: aside from spears? how about connor, jenkins, felix...
Gin: I would drink vodka instead, but I guess the ugly A&M girl is better than waking up alone with your pants off and your hand in your crotch or worse, waking up next to one of the A&M male cheerleaders?
Draft: I can't see moving up in this draft, I would hope we stay put or at worst drop down a smidgeon and get another pick or two
the off-season to me?: so far, so boring..but, sometimes boring is good in the beginning...I feel like more is coming

I just get feeling Jerry is lining things up for next year. He could potentially revamp the team next year. You let Romo and Spencer play-out their one year deals. Then release Free. I believe that would create about $30 million surplus next year. Then Jerry makes bold move and moves up in draft to select the QB they want. You then have new face of franchise, excitement, hope and 30 millions to load up in need areas.

I agree with you and hope you are correct

We need a real solid home run draft and a few good FA pickups

My concern is that with the owner/GM and HC , this team will not be prepared properly

The two oldest guys on the team to-date are Romo and our long snapper. Both are 32 years.

We are not an old team.

Now, that said, we can use more youth on the DL. So we draft a quality guy or two next month on the DL . . . . which probably will happen in any case.
