The last few years have been rough as far as not meeting expectations go. It seemed that Jerry had been closing his eyes and throwing his check book in every direction and just hoping he hit the problems that have kept this team from getting past it's short comings.

For the first time in years, I think the focus is where it needs to be, we have talented players, we don't need someone elses aging veterans, or "Names", the Cowboys need to get back to basics. Talent is not the problem. Poor tackling, self promoting, and just plain stupidity(penalties and dumb mistakes) are the reasons for recent failures.

The Cowboys are in a position to use free agency for what it should be....re sign your own players that you want to keep, and build through the draft to stock up on some depth.

I'd be completely happy coming out of this period with Ware getting his new deal, possibly re-signing Canty, picking up a backup QB, drafting a player to start at ILB, then drafting for depth.

If we only sign a back-up QB and end up re-signing Canty (doubtful, IMO), we still need to draft a starter at ILB and Safety. (I'm assuming RW is getting cut.)

IMO, we need to sign a back-up QB, sign one player on the DL as part of the rotation, and get one ILB or Safety in FA.
