I'll admit, I was about as low as I've been in a long, long time after this game. This is a hard one to swallow. But ...
... we're less than 102 days away from the opening of the 2017 NFL Draft. I think we all knew going into the 2016 preseason that our defense was still going to be a liability. And as much as many defensive players rose to the occasion this year, as much as our offense was able to take pressure off of our defense this year, we are still awfully weak at pass rush, and another Anthony Brown-level (or better) CB would help too. And another good WR would also be helpful.
By my math, we should be drafting at around 28 in the first round. There will be some really decent DEs for us there. I don't see any reason the team that made the 2016 draft such a success can't make the 2017 draft at least useful for us. I'm not asking for another Dak miracle at the end of the 4th round. Just two pretty good pass-rushing DEs, a decent #2 WR and someone who could be shaped into a contributing CB.
So, I'm going to try to get a good night's sleep, call in sick to work tomorrow just because I can, and look forward to what this team will start looking like in just over 100 days.
