Something I heard about Marty B

Just a little something I thought i'd pass along.

Word is one of the coaches said that Marty B will be lined up at receiver quite a bit.

They say he is running routes like he is a 6'1 receiver. His routes are that good.

Also word is Martellus is 100% sure he is going to be a superstar in this league ( surprising I know)

Not a lot but thought i'd pass along.

I heard this via GAC from Steve Dennis btw.

Thanks for the update, Catch. I love the idea of Bennett becoming a wildcard for this offense. As much as I'm glad T.O.'s distractions are gone, we will miss his scoring production. Someone has to score those touchdowns that he used to produce -- and I'm not sure Witten or Roy Williams are double-TD type guys (granted, Roy could come close with a real QB throwing his way). Either way, I'm secretly hoping Bennett could develop into that guy that fills the void.

Well by the sounds of it you will get your wish because the coaching staff evidently has monster plans for the guy this season.

I dont think they have any plans of treating him like just your everday back up tight end.

Good. Because I desperately need creative ideas to improve my Madden game.

Bennett wins the award for most overrated player for the 2009 offseason.

I might be struck down by lightning for saying this but i'll go with David Buehler.

Interesting. Anything's possible, but I'm hard pressed to see it as we sit here right now. He showed last season to be an athletic marvel of sorts by season's end, and without T.O. or a top-of-the-line wideout or premier receiving duo, I could see his role increasing dramatically from last year.

I don't expect the 50 catches, 10 touchdowns Steve Dennis predicted. But I am hopeful for maybe 30-35 catches and six TDs.

What's so interesting about Buehler is the definition of his productivity will, theoretically, be so easily recognizable. Either the kickoffs go very deep, or they do not.

I'm not saying he sucks or anything, but the hype is a bit much at this point.

I could see that. And the 50 catches, 10 touchdown prediction might have well been the tipping point.

Didn't he have 4 TDs as a rookie TE, despite the fact that he got limited snaps due to the league's best TE already being on the roster? Yeah, overated.

Witten's a tight end, and Roy Williams isn't top of the line.

So dare I ask, who?
he may not be Larry fitz or Megatron Calvin Johnson but he's a legit #1 wr. just wait and see

I like Roy Williams. Don't get me wrong. I don't doubt he's a No. 1 wide receiver. But technically speaking, there are 32 No. 1 wideouts in the NFL. Perhaps even more since some teams arguably have several.

But you said it yourself. "[H]e may not be Larry fitz or Megatron Calvin Johnson..." Roy Williams, to date, isn't "top of the line." Fitzgerald, Boldin, Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, etc., are top of the line. Which is all I said in my post. There are probably at least a dozen wide receivers who are unquestionably better.

I think he's good, but not top of the line.

yeah but you can count the number of "top of the line" wrs on 1 hand. also of the top of the line wrs you mentioned only 1 team had a winning record and it was a fluke most likely.

At least he's done something on the field, unlike last years hype magnet Danny Amendola.

Which is why I allow myself to get excited. Same as with Felix Jones.

With Felix, my concern is his health. Will injuries be his Achilles heal? With Martellus, it's what's inside his head. When it comes down to it, is he focused to being a winning football player or a high-profile clown?

But physically, both excite the absolute hell out of me. And it's not based on useless hype. We've actually seen the potential with our own eyes on the field, and it's reflected in the stats they produced in limited playing time a year ago.

Sorry, but I'm not following where our disagreement is then?

I said we didn't have a top-of-the-line wideout. You said we did. I asked who? You said Roy Williams. I said he's not top of the line. You said, "yeah, but you can count the number of 'top of the line' wrs on 1 hand."

We disagree where exactly?
