Something intriguing I noticed...

It would be interesting to put the new players in one column and the player they replaced in the other column and compare.

Julius Jones.......................Felix Jones.....................upgrade
Tyson Thompson................Tashard Choice...............big upgrade
Akin Ayodele......................Zach Thomas................. big upgrade
Jacques Reeves..................Adam Jones................... huge upgrade
Nate Jones........................Mike Jenkins................... huge upgrade
Anthony Fasano.................Martellus Bennett............IMO, upgrade
______________................Orlando Scandrick...........upgrade
______________................Montrae Holland..............Jury out

We don't yet know who exactly Scandrick and Holland are replacing, but there is reason for excitement with both. I have even seen two writers who say Holland is better than Kosier and once he gets the system down will be our long term LG. Hope is a good thing.

Y'know, you'd make a lousy Chicken Little... don't you know that when somebody hands you a silver lining, you're supposed to look for the cloud??

Keep it up, and folks are gonna start callin' you Pollyanna...

Hos..........I would say Scandrick represent and up grade over Ball IMO. Ball has again been cut and possible PS player. And I agree the just is still out on Holland.

I was not aware Ball had been cut. It's early out here.

Thanks.

I am a lousy chicken little except when it comes to other drivers. I don't know about you, but everyone who drives faster than I do is a maniac and everyone who drives slower is an idiot.

Yeah, I'm in touch with that sentiment... everybody ought to drive 71 MPH on the Interstate, just like I do... and truckers should take the back roads...

Hos and other Members. I apologize........miss read and article here..........Ball has not been cut. It was someone's wishlist for a OLB. Again I apologize for speaking to soon.

No sweat VA. Just like BrainPaint having sex, no sweat.

Bennett vs. Fasano? Bennett's athleticism far exceeds Fasano. We'll see if he can continue to develop.

That and Fasano didn't play a lot of downs to begin with. So it's not like Dallas is going into the season trying to replace a crucial player with a rookie.

One would think he is almost a lock for a PS spot. But I was surprised he didn't stick.

Nope. Reportedly there were more than a few teams interested in him...the KC Chiefs signed him.

:welcome: to The Zone. Hope you enjoy it.

I think what we are seeing is the desire to keep the changing parts to a minimum and rely on the scouting and coaching to make the difference this year.

Plus the new guys we have brought in fit into a lot of important holes we needed players at to perform needed roles.

Jerry is banking on the fact that the maturing of the talent we have is better than bringing in a lot of new faces and hoping for improvement.

And I agree.

This roster is as talented on paper as any team this franchise has ever had..bar none.

And I've seen them all.

Problem is, they haven't translated into titles.

Now we see. Basically the main pieces have been in place for 2 years and going on 3.

Adding more faces to this crew isn't going to get them over the top.

Holding the ones that are already here and being paid well to be here are going to have to do it now.

I don't think we are the best team in the league.

Best talented..Yes.

But that part about 'best team' and being a 'best team' is not there yet.
That honor goes to the Jints last year.

As a team, they performed.

The Patrioits..now there is another 'best team', despite losing in the SB.

They were undefeated going in to the SB despite us and the rest of the NFL trying to take them down and nobody but the Jints could do it.

Those guys in my book are still the 'best team'. Maybe not the Champs, but still way ahead of us.

We are not in the same sentence yet as far as the 'best team'.

We'll see.

Good info. I also noticed that for the first time in many years one of our Draft picks didn't make the team and it isn't because of injury. In fact Walden didn't make it despite injuries at his position.

Skylar Green was the last one, wasn't he?

Good point, Rich. From what I've seen of Bennett in pre-season he is already a better blocker than Fasano. Probably better than Witten during his 1st year too. Plus he has shown he can catch and run. If he can be consistent against starters, he's a real find.
