Has anyone else noticed that the entire media can't stop talking about how losing to the Seahawks in OT by three points has solidified the New York Giants as a very good team?

The Cowboys lost to the the Seahawks by 3 points as well, but this was never mentioned. This past weekend, the Cowboys lost to arguably the second best team in the league right now by 3 points and yet, not one mention of the Cowboys being for real .. in fact, in most of the media, I have heard nothing but "maybe next year" comments.

I don't normally dwell on media conspiracy theories and I know the Eli media-love is approaching Brett Favre levels, but even the normally objective sports writers and radio guys seem to be doing it.

I am not saying the Cowboys are Super Bowl bound, but right now, I see the Cowboys have lost 4 games by a total of 13 points, beat the New York Giants with two of their losses coming against teams that are now 9-2, yet they will be lucky to "sneak" into the playoffs this season if you listen to the media.

They did the same thing after the Skins lost to KC, I think. Saying they played better in that game than they had all year and so that just proved they were on the rise.

Guess not... :D

PF had it right, tho. The only way to make folks a believer are to go into their house and take it to them.

I've noticed it, too. We lose close games and it shows that we "can't close" or "aren't ready yet". The Giants do it and it shows they've arrived. Huh?

IMO this isn't an anti-Cowboys thing, it's a pro-New York thing. Much of the media would love nothing more than for the Giants and Eli Manning to become great.

I think there is no more the media would want than an all Manning Super Bowl..

I think they will try to wish it to happen and dwell on Eli as much as possible....

If the Giants beat the Cowboys this week I prolly won't watch TV for a week....

I agree with everything you said! I'm listening to sports radio in Charlotte, and they have Dallas 5th in the NFC behind the Seahawks, Panthers, Giants, Falcons.....All they are talking about is the Giants and how all of a sudden they can go on the road and win in the playoffs because they LOST yesterday....makes me sick!

Well, I have now.

I think it has to do with how both games unfolded, but it shouldn't. The media is going to lay this loss on missed FGs, and ours on a costly INT.

Yea..I'm gonna have to agree here...

We beat the Giants, but again "got lucky" and they were really the better team even though Dallas dominated that game as well for 3 and half quarters.

Dallas recieves no recognition at all, Giants ahead in all polls, power rankings, even after we beat them, then...

We beat Philly on an interception return and it was gift wrapped luck

In reference.. Seattle beats us the same way + overtime and it was because Bledsoe is mistake prone and our defense can't close, oh and Seattle is the team to beat.

Giants lose to the Vikings... a mere stumble apparently, barely a mention

Giants lose to Seattle... well..clearly NY should have won and Seattle is the "Premier" team.. I mean, look at their record... they beat Dallas. Manning was incredible... what do you mean Shockey's TD wasn't a TD?

Denver beats Dallas in OT, the better team clearly won, what do you mean Dallas would have won with that 90% FG that was missed?... Denver would have came back down the field and scored a TD... Dallas can't stop anyone late in games.

I'm with the rest of you here... the only way to stop this crap is to go into their place and just blow them out. Leave no doubt who the better team is. Dominate in every phase of the game.... but don't worry, if that happens surely it is unfair that Dallas gets to play on Thanksgiving and they pretty much had a bye week before the game and had all this extra time to prepare, whereas the Giants played a late game on the West Coast and had to fly back after a rough OT loss. ...

We haven't gotten credit with the media for years...

From the media's account, Pittsburgh REALLY shoulda won SB XXX... Larry Brown just got gifts and the Steelers were obviously a better team...

I've actually read NUMEROUS articles giving props to the Cowboys. In fact, I'd say it's about 50/50 when it comes to rating the Cowboys ahead of the Giants and vice versa.

Nope.

Keep in mind the gints missed 3 potential game winning FGs.

The boys bungled the seattle game as a team. Big difference.

We can win this week and shut everyone up.

I think we're splitting hairs at this point. I don't think Dallas is getting undue disrespect nor NYG undue respect. I think everyone generally agrees that next week's clash will give one team a clear edge. Even then it'll go the wire. Sure glad the worst we can do head-to-head is split. A win for us next week would be akin to a 2-game division lead with 4 to go. Certainly no lock, but a nice headstart shall we say.

The NFC truly is wide open. I think you can take any two of the top 6 teams in the NFC and have a very competitive game no matter the venue. That is exactly what Seattle, Dallas & NYG have done with each other to this point. I see Carolina, Atlanta & TBay in pretty much the same light.

Debating who is a hair better than the other at this point is nothing more than splitting that hair imo.

I don't think you'll find too many in the media that will strongly declare something different than that.

I still don't understand why the media opinion is so important to some. This isn't some college poll where opinions will somehow influence whether we get a chance to be champs.

If we're so worthy of respect then we'll be able to prove that on the field. If not, what does it matter.

Its really akin to Parcells "you are what you're record is" credo and I think its a good way to approach things.

Or perhaps you prefer Dandy Don's "if ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas."

It's not that the media opinion matters because I'm a firm believer in the "you prove how good you are on the field" philosophy. It's not that I don't like Eli because I'm a huge Eli fan .. I would have loved to have him play for the Cowboys. I don't even hate the Giants nearly as much as I do the Eagles and Commanders.

The problem is that every sports show I watch or listen to and every article I read basically writes off the Cowboys as lucky to even make the playoffs while the Giants are given the division title and yet, here we sit with both teams having the same record and at this point, the Cowboys have already beat the Giants in a head-to-head game.

It's not like I want to hear sports guys drooling over the Cowboys because I much prefer them being the underdog. I just wish they would quit writing off the Cowboys like they don't even have a chance. I don't care that the Giants are the hot topic of conversation and that the Eli-love is ever present in just about every NFC conversation. My only complaint is they are writing off a team that has played just as well, has the same record and even beat the team they are ready to anoit as the next dynasty.

Your media sources must be selective.

Sean Salisbury, Chris Mortensen and even Peter King still have the Cowboys as a solid team and winning the division.

I dont know how anybody can say the giants are better than the cowboys when we beat them. I'm sorry maybe im close minded but if we beat a team, arent we better than them?

It amazes me that when we do the same thing against seattle its dallas cant finish games, but when the giants do what we did they are know superbowl contenders or w/e the media is saying.

and I HATE ELI
