Reality is that the Iggles & Vikes are way under the cap (according to Mort). We're not as far under the cap as people would like to think--like it or not, we can't grab every FA name being floated here (or even most of them). That means they're really going to be able to buy themselves some major-name FAs this year & be serious contenders in the NFC.

That's true about the Eagles, but recent history shows that the Eagles are fiscally prudent when it comes to free agency (T.O. and Jevon Kearse, notwithstanding) and are perennially well under the cap. And with the CBA in its current state of confusion, I don't see the Eagles breaking the bank this offseason, either.

On WIP in Philly, they were talking about this, the feeling is the Eagles will be fine this year under the CBA, but given their past History of Spending they can't or won't try to keep up with Snyder and Jones in the uncapped years.:iggles: :suxiggle: :trophy: :disseags:

We can be a better team next year even if we had no FA signing. Many teams can't say that. We have many young players who are gonna get better. A defensive scheme in its second year. The return of Flozell..... All hope is certainly not lost.

The Vikes are going nowhere fast, like always.

The Eagles, historically, aren't big players in the FA market.

We ahd solid drafts in 2003 and 2005. Jacob Rogers and Steven Peterman still have a chance of saving 2004's draft. That gives us a great core of players to work with during these uncharted waters.

That is correct. But as long as we have "adequate" cap room to get a few key signings done, that is all we will need.

Remember, if you have money in your wallet, it will burn a hole in your pocket and you spend it lavishly and stupidly. The Peerless Price and Anthony Thomas signings were prime examples.

As long as we have enough to sign a quality lineman, kicker and possibly free safety, we don't need the additional millions.

We are 12.5 under (according to Jerry and Adam) before cuts.

Cuts:
DT La'Roi Glover $7,200,000 Save = $6,000,000
LB Dat Nguyen (ret.) $2,458,333 Save = $1,791,665

So 12.5 + 7.7 = 20.2 under so I think your misinformed we are in really good shape.

As long as McChunky is QB it really doesnt matter if they have cap room or not. They have cap room because they dont spend money(except on McNabb)

They will never be a serious player for the SB. Ever!

That figure was thrown out assuming a deal with the CBA was reached and the cap went up anywhere from $10 million to $15 million.

According to analysts, we are about 1.8 over the $94.5 million cap now. Dat's retirment would put us right at the cap or a hair under it. We release Glover and Allen and gain another $9 million that could be used on other FAs that fit what we are wanting to do.

Yes, I thought we were in reasonable shape. However, Clayton on ESPN says we're over.

And yes, I do agree that the Iggles probably won't spend. However, they do have the money to pick up some pretty decent FAs, particularly when you consider how many will be out there. And the Vikes, with a new owner & coach, will probably do the same--altho they do have to get their QB situation fixed.
