Yesterday Ed werder from ESPN breaks the story that several cowboys players told him that BP was keeping a close eye on Bledsoe. That it was concievable Bledsoe could be pulled, even DURING A GAME. Then, right before kickoff ESPN also breaks a story that Parcells had told Romo to BE READY. Now, im a Romo supporter, im GLAD the kid got put in. But, after hearing those 2 reports and knowing we were only down by 5 at the half, this whole thing strikes me FUNNY. I think Parcells had already made the switch before the game even started, think it was predetermined he was switching to Romo THIS GAME. Anyone agree?

It's a good conspiracy theory, that's for sure. Perhaps Parcells waited for Bledsoe to make the mistake so that he wouldn't look like the bad guy for starting Romo from the very beginning????

Seeing what Bledsoe did against JAX, PHI, and NYG how can you not yank Bledsoe for Romo. We have some tough tough games coming up and Bledsoe would get killed.

Peter King thought Romo would come in and be the hero too...

I really do think that Bill knows deep down that Romo is his best chance for real success. I think it just hurts to bench Drew...

Look, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what was going on.

Bledsoe performs horribly in Jacksonville.
He performs horribly in Philadelphia.
Now he performs horribly against the NYGiants.

We're just down 5 points in the half. We're not going to get better with Bledsoe just standing in the pocket, so why not go to the youngster.

If fault should be placed anywhere, it's the play calling. Instead of feeding the ball to the running backs, we immediately (I think it was his first play) roll Romo out and have him pass, only to have it intercepted. Even so, that was just a tremendous play by Strahan and one Romo couldn't have foreseen because he's never played. (Don't think he'll make that mistake twice. At least I hope not.)

So maybe Parcells was preparing Romo and just felt like the opportunity was after halftime.

I really don't care. I'm glad we're going in a new direction.

I KNOW one thing. I almost danced a jig when they benched Bledsoe! REALLY. I have no idea what Romo can do, if he can ever take us to a superbowl, but I do like his upside. But I DO KNOW, Bledsoe wasnt taking us anywhere. Give this kid a chance, gameplan for his strengths and I think we see a much improved offense. Think he allows us to crack open the playbook and do so many things we couldnt do with Bledsoe.

I'm pretty sure that Parcells is as at least nearly as smart as some people give him credit for. Even though we think he isn't brilliant with QBs, I don't think that we are the only ones who have seen Bledsoe play poorly this year. Parcells sees, as much as everyone, that he just isn't seeing the open guys, making the proper adjustments, checking down, releasing, etc.

I was pretty skeptical to the reports in preseason that the coaching staff expected to see Romo this year - I think now, more and more, that Parcells has known that Bledsoe is over long before us, but maybe his loyalty has kept him in longer than most coaches would have.

These days I'm always surprised when the national sports media gets something right about the Cowboys.

Parcells' decision to go with Romo wasn't impulsive. It is what Parcells planned to do if Bledsoe didn't play well.

I mentioned this in another thread......what is even more strange is that Burger King mentioned this scenerio in his prediction column, saying that Romo would replace Beldsoe at half time.

Norm mentioned that ESPN had been tipped off that the switch was coming.........

I originally posted that we should have released Bledsoe. I have written it before and I will write it again: I am scared to death with Bledsoe as QB when we are in the red zone. I am not anticipating a score, but rather an interception. I am for benching or releasing Bledsoe. I know there are some die hard Bledsoe fans in here. Therefore, my advise is to wake up, rid yourself of hopes of a championship with Bledsoe and catch up to reality. Bledsoe is done, in my opinion. I am for letting Romo develop this year and measure his progress at the end of the season.

the O-line is doing a terrible job of protecting our QB - no matter WHO he is.

inserting romo makes that unit less of a liability. any way you slice it - bledsoe cannot operate under pressure. he has displayed, time and time again, a fairly complete inability to either buy time or find a hot read when under duress.

romo committed some pretty horrible errors himself last night. but he WAS buying time and he DID hit some hot reads. and he seemed much aware of WHERE the pressure was gonna come from than did bledsoe - a guy with a decade of starting experience ALREADY under his belt.

we don't know where romo will lead this team. maybe nowhere. but with bledsoe it's a leadpipe cinch - we're not going anywhere. not with THIS LINE.

by starting romo the team is essentially trading-in a negative certainty for an absolute UNcertainty.

i'm sorry we can't provide bledsoe with an airtight pocket and it led to his hastened departure. but them's the facts.

our line is BAD - and behind it... bledsoe is an absolute SITTING DUCK. hence, so are the Cowboys.

Same here. I made my wife change the channel on her TV just to see Romo. Everything was cool until she asked why Bledsoe got benched.

No, that INT on the 2 yard line sealed his fate. If we get in the endzone there, he stays in.

To be honest, I came back to the tv after venting here at half time, and as I walked into the room, I heard the sideline reporter say that Romo was starting the second half and my first gut reaction was the same one you get when you are about to take off on a really cool rollercoaster. The nerves just hit me in an instant. I was excited, but honestly, I felt a little sick to my stomach. That kind of freaked me out, because I have been saying since the Philly game that I want Romo in there. But, when it actually came time, there was that nervous pause of "oh **** here we go!" Really wierd. The ONLY time a football game has done that to me was watching the Boys in NFC Championship games and the Super Bowls. Was a little freaky, in all honesty.
