Something to think about while watching NFC East teams during preseason.....

One thing the NFC East doesn't have trouble with, is selling tickets...... and I'll come back to that point in a min.

While I didn't get to see your game against AZ, or the Giants game either. I was able to listen to the Skins/Panthers.... and watch last night.

Last night, the Eagles backup WR's aren't bad. They aren't better than the group they had 2 years ago, but without T.O., that doesn't mean they are going to suck.

The question is going to be the OL and McNabb I think. Will week after week of questions about T.O., especially after a loss, get to him? That 1st pass last night for the INT/TD was ugly, but he got his act together (once the Steelers 2nd team D came out early). But, Pittsburgh was at home...and after spending 3 years in Western, PA for some school. I've learned that Steeler fans come strong, even in the preseason...and when they are playing at home....the Steelers play to win more than just working on the basics.

The Panthers and Cardinals want to do 1 thing right now.

Sell Season Tickets.

The Panthers have won 9 games in a row because they show more during the preseason, and play to win. Their weakness right now is their running game with Stephen Davis' microfractures, and Fosters injury issues also. However, they decided to throw the ball a lot with their 1st team, and not work on their weak points.

The Cardinals from what I've read, showed a lot more D that Dallas did, especially with the blitz against Bledsoe. They are building a sweet new stadium out there, in a town where you can't give away Cards tickets.

Last time I was there during the football season, they were giving away football tickets to whoever won concert tickets..... and I actually heard one person on the radio say "Keep the Cardinal tickets..... give me some ASU ones"

So...... just something to reflect on.

I know the Tuna, Gibbs, Reid and Coughlin aren't going to show anything the next few weeks.

Now, that doesn't mean Ramsey wasn't missing his guys on Saturday night. A pass is a pass. But, it does mean they are running plays you won't likely see in the Regular season, and they don't practice these ones a lot.

Don't take the final score to heart.....find a guy who's on the bubble and watch his performance, or a group (like the OL), etc.

The Eagle special teams let them down last night. I think McNabb was not in regular season form, but showed both the strengths and weaknesses we already know pretty well. When he's fresh and the adrenalin is pumping McNabb will often start a game throwing high. The Eagle WR's looked OK given a pretty long look against the Pittsburg D. It will be interesting to see what TO does this week.

It wasn't me. LOL Right now TO lacks support from his teammates and it is only going to get worse unless he gets his head on straight and I do have doubts that he can or will.

Their would have to be a lot of humility coming from a guy who has shown none his entire career and I am with you - I would be totally shocked to see him play with Philly this year

I think there is a lot of merit in your argument. I was also thinking about the Ra ra coaches like Del Rio, Cowher, and D. Green, etc. stack up against the anti-ra ra coaches in pre-season like Dungy, Parcells, etc. and if their was any parallel.

When Denny Green was in Minny, and Red just bought the team. He specifically told Green to leave the starters in long during the preseason to win those games, to gather up hype for his team, and to sell tickets.

So, I feel its very legit.

The last thing I guy like Tuna or Gibbs wants, is people thinking their team is really good during the preseason. they want week 1 to be an ambush.

Even though, we've got the Bad-Luck Bears week 1, and I think the worst team in NFL Europe could run with these guys in 05.

14-19 for 149 yards and a TD....of course the 1 int, but holy cow, if that's not in regular season form, I'd sure hate to see him do even better....I saw two of those incompletions were intentional throwaways too.

He looked very sharp in that game, and the announcers noted it, while they also gushed over the two young WR's who were getting open in the Steelers secondary and catching everything near them.

Any INT returned for a TD stands out for McNabb, and he only played a quarter. It was the definition of up and down, not his regular season form.

Their inexperienced receivers worked over the Steelers` zone coverage, but their offensive line couldn't handle the blitz and certainly struggled to correct their weaknesses from last year in allowing Westbrook to be tackled behind the LOS multiple times.
