I'm as sick as anyone for this loss, but I don't agree with some of the blame being tossed around.
We were not to conservative in our play calling.
That's not what cost us the game. If anything we were to aggressive in a few key spots!
1) Going deep to Glenn into double coverage on second down was a poor and also aggressive decision. We had just under 2 min left in the first half great field position with a chance to go up perhaps 10-0 witha couple of first downs. More importantly we run out the rest of the half and take the second half kickoff. Instead we give them much need confidence and points.
2) This isn't second guessing but I actually thought and said to my buddy I was wathcing the game with that we should either fall on the ball or screen to a back on with 17 seconds to go. This is the interception play. In that weather I didn't see the percentages in our favor.
3) Our run oriented running attack served us well thoughout the game. Remember this game was played in poor weather and I believe for the first time this year, our running game was much more effective than our passing game.
Bottom line is we did not close the deal. Just like the Commanders game. It had nothing to do with Parcels, Zimmer or Peyton.
Here's what kills me about this year so far. We haven't caught a f---ing break.
After seven games I can honestly say we were anywhere from slightly to significantly better than our oppenent in six games yet have only four wins to show for it. The raiders of all teams was the game where we were slightly outplayed.
I'm starting to fear that the season may play out like many of our games have. You display superiority over a team for 30,40,50 minutes but just haven't put quite translated that into a large enough point differential. And what happens...Murphy's law kicks in. I fear were going to look back on the washington and seattle games at years end and wonder what could have been.
Final Word - Killing the Eagles wipped away the pain of the Washington loss and put us back to where we need to be. The only way we make up this game (after beating Arizona) is to either take the Eagles in Philly or both remaining road games with NY and Wash.
