Sonny Jurgensen passes away

Know the name but before my time. What a resume. Only played for two teams. Philly and Commanders. Good stuff. Rip.

For those who are almost as old as I am, the Iggles made one of the worst trades in NFL history. Probably somewhere back around 1962.

Sonny had been the back-up to Norm Van Brocklin, who was the QB on the Eagles' 1960 championship team. Van Brocklin retired and, for some inexplicable reason, the Birds traded Jurgenson to the 'Skins for, wait for it, Norm Snead. It's not even debatable who got the better of that deal.

Sonny would have been the perfect replacement for Van Brocklin as both were of the 'mad bomber' variety of QB's.

RIP, Sonny.

A more nonathletic QB you would not find outside of Peyton Manning.
But he had a gun and most important of all he had the mind
RIP Sonny

RIP Sonny. Had a quite wonderful throwing arm, looked effortless.

Sonny looked like a fan who got off his couch and went straight onto the field. Had a beer gut but he could threw some absolute dimes. Always gave the Cowboys problems with ususlly a worse roster. 12 and 13 career record vs Dallas. RIP.
