Sony Michell shows why you need a good RB

Out of the 13 games started, 6 of those games he had below 4 ypc, his longest run in the regular season was 34 yards, and he had a whopping 7 catches in those 13 games. The only embarrassing thing I see is that he totaled Zeke's rushing TDs on 209 carries.

Again, by not statistical benchmark, is this "great". Pretending you can't find an RB giving this kind of production yearly that is a flash in a pan is crazy talk. Those numbers compare to someone like Lamar Miller, who is not a great RB.

And the only reason "great" and "elite" is "subjective" with RB is due to the fact that the position, as a whole, is incredibly unremarkable. There are very few real "elite" RBs in the league and the ones who look elite right now don't stay there for very long. You then have scrub RBs that come in, put up good numbers, and then disappear.
Lmao all you do on this site everyday is claim how we dont need Zeke. Everyday all day. It's quite pathetic if you ask me. Yeah let's pay our average Quarterback rather than keep our all pro runningback. Makes sense. We'll find a Zeke Elliott in the 4th and call it a day. Fans like you are the reason why I dont wanna be associated with "internet fans". Just completely asinine.

They might. The Patriots may let any player they draft walk. They make hard evaluations on performance, cap hit and performance vs cap that all the other team's should be doing.

If they can draft a guy, use him for three orv4 years and trade the guy for a high pick, or end up with a 3rd round comp pick for him, that's not a bad gig for them is it?
They manage the roster better than anyone
But I do think it’s cost them some years
But they also get the most out of players, especially on defensr

Wait you would actually keep Zeke over Dak?

It has cost them, but it has also kept their window open for almost 20 years. That's unheard of in the salary cap era.

Lost in the shuffle w/ Edelmann busting out in the super bowl was a playoff MVP type performance in the Pats super bowl run. In 3 games, here are his stats:

71/336/6 TD's.

Michell was a beast in the Chargers playoff win. They couldn't stop him. 24/129/3 TDs

And then in what became a close one vs KC, Michell kept the chains moving and the ball out of Mahomes's hands. 29/113 and 2 TD's.

And then in the super bowl, while overshadowed by Edelmann's performance, Michell once again had a great game at 18/94 and scored the games only TD.

NE outplayed SD, but I'm not sure NE beats KC w/o his performance.
Michel is a good RB! But dont be confused with him being great! Teams playing against NE are game planning to stop Brady. NE has won a SB with many different RBs including James White as the MVP. But Brady is the star of that team. Its much easier to run the ball when your QB can completely take over games.

Ofcourse, we've all seen how Dak performs when Zeke doesn't play. Why would I let a top 3 running back go for a mediocre quarterback? Dak is terrible without Zeke.
We all have seen Dak play without Zeke.......it's called a winning record. W's are all that matters

No what's completely asinine is you think you can't find a great running back in the 4th but think a QB in the 4th is suppose to be the best in the league.

When I look at how the pats use their RBs, it’s so much more innovative than here in Dallas and it’s one of the many reasons they are hard to prepare for. The pats like to use their RBs all over the field in multiple formations, and they don’t just use Michel. They also use James White as both a runner and receiver.

If we’re being honest about our offense and how it uses players, we really only use Zeke as a backfield weapon in the same simple ways. Sure Zeke catches passes but he is rarely used in a way we’ve never seen before. Rod Smith is never or almost never used in any creative way. He is brought in for one reason- to give Zeke a breather. When the defenses see Rod Smith, they know he’s only going to be used to run basic plays from their base formation.

IMO, we need to upgrade at the backup RB position for two reasons:

1. We need a bonafide running and receiving threat to come in once in a while and create some new wrinkles for the defense. We need a player that’s a real threat to run or catch passes.

2. Zeke is being used at a pace that will shorten his career. Having Zeke’s workload reduced will make him fresher when you need him most. Look at how gassed and injured Gurley was in the playoffs. If the rams hadn’t had CJ Anderson, they wouldn’t have made the SB.
Amen!
NEs offense makes the Dallas offense look like a bunch of pre schoolers. Any one of NEs RBs are capable of having a big game and being the feature back in that game. Edelman can beat you or Gronk can beat you, heck even that kid they hardly used this year Chris Hogan had big games in 2017. The NE defense as we saw can rise up and take over game. In the meantime the only people you need to gameplan for in Dallas is Zeke and Amari!

Anybody that wants to keep Zeke over Dak makes me question their motives or football IQ. QB is one of the hardest positions to find and RB is one of the easiest.
QB is the hardest position to find but when you have a great offensive line and a great RB and stud WR even a marginal QB will look like a starter. I think Zeke will be worn out in a few more years and Dak will level off as just an avg QB. I wouldnt pay an avg player top 5 money and Im not sure Jerry will either. Daks needs a 28 passing TDs and 4k yards and then he will get his money. Too many 200 or less games makes me want to see Dak prove hes the guy.

I really don't care what you want to be associated with.

I completely disagree. First off Dak has never had less than 28 total TDs in a year since entering three league. Second off he wins games, even when the players around him are suspended or hurt he still wins games. Third Dak doesn't post huge passing numbers because of playcalling and thats been proven in games when he went over 300 and 400 yards.

You guys are too caught up in fantasy football. The market for QBs are only going higher. Right now Dak deserves 25-28 million per year and yes he is worth every penny, especially after his performances the past 3 years and only getting paid peanuts. The longer you go without paying Dak the more it's going to be. You wait to next year and then tag him, his price will be over 30 million a year easy. The market is getting over 30 already.

You talk about a great WR, great RB and great OL but Dak hasn't had all them play an entire year yet. Tyron, Zeke, Frederick and Martin all missed games this year. Cooper didn't come until almost half way through the season. Last year Tyron and Zeke both missed multiple games and Dak had different TE and top 2 WR then this year.

With this same offense you realize this team was 4-12 before Dak was drafted? Those players you claim would make any QB look good went 1-11 workout Romo in the lineup. And you can't talk running game because Dallas had a 1000 yard rusher who didn't start the first 7 games that year.

Romo is gone and if Dak wasn't on this team we would be lucky to win 4 games and would be challenging Arizona for the top pick.

Championships are all that matters.
Got to win games to have a chance at championships. Romo never won a championship but yet some on here will fight tooth and nail about how great he was......

Seems like you misunderstood my point. I'm ok drafting Zeke where we did compared to what was on the board. My point is a RB doesn't have to be picked in the top 10 to get a very good back.

There's not a single position in the league you have to draft in the top 10, especially rb. I can't believe anyone would argue otherwise.
